Todd saved me at least $190 and here's my proof. Christmas was only days away and my car's heat decided not to work. I called Todd, but they were booked that day. I was anxious to get to mom's,so I brought my car to the only shop in the area that could fit it in (I know, I've learned my lesson on that). Now, I'm a single mom with a high mile '85 ford ltd and the shop I brought it to said I needed a new water pump. Then they told me thier estimate-$490! So I called Todd to ask if I was being duped. Before I told him what was wrong, he asked where I took it. He then said, "...they always charge 40-50% more than we do. I don't usually do phone estimates, but I want to show you how badly they're ripping you off." Which was a minimum of $190. Needless to say, I postponed my holiday trip. The water pump was fixed the next evening. When I drove home from the shop, I had no air comming from my vents! I returned the next morning and, although they were booked, he sqeezed me in and replaced the fan motor, which apparently was a co-conspirator to my heatloss problem. I would have hated to see the other shop's estimate for that job. Todd was very straight forward, friendly, informative, and best of all respectful. I don't think the thought even crossed his mind to treat me differently because I am a woman. I highly recommend Todd and Gary's University Service (Todd is the owner or manager.John was the actual mechanic who worked on my car and did a fine job.) Todd is also a car talk fan (I asked)!

Both my girlfriend and I have taken vehicles here. DON’T. She tried to get a diagnosis of an odd grinding noise and shaking, and following their $50 “inspection,” which lasted all of 5 minutes, they tried to convince her that her brakes were dangerous and that she’d be putting herself at risk by leaving their shop. She left anyway, bought new calipers elsewhere, drove her car back to her grandfather’s, and they lifted it. The brakes were in great condition, and definitely were not in need of replacing - let alone dangerous. I also tried to get a quote on a single repair that I couldn’t do myself, the pressure line for my power steering, and they refused to quote the service unless I allowed them to do one of those $50 “inspections” because “there could be other stuff going on” despite the fact I never told them any symptoms, only that I wanted this specific service. It seems to me they’re just out to make a quick buck off of college students that don’t know any better.
