Had a 1989 Escort run for 137,000 miles before I ran a green light one day (unfortunately, somebody else decided to run a red light at the same time). Dan saved me over $600 when another shop cross-threaded my spark plugs after changing my distributor. He told me that a mechanic SHOULD send my header to a machine shop to get the hole bored and re-threaded. Since my Escort was nearly in "Car Heaven" with 105K miles, I should take the chance and allow him to perform this work. If he did not perform this delicate operation to perfection, my Race Car would not make it home. Well, this repair cost me $180 instead of $800+. I know that my car would still be running if it did not meet such a sudden death.

We were new to the area and having car problems. Not knowing where to turn - found Car Talk's Mechan-X-Files. It at least gave us a place to start. My husband initially went to a shop that he saw while driving along and took the car there to replace the brakes. After sticker shock they told us about additional work that needed to be done. We were sure that it was probably needed, but owner just seemed slick. Husband liked the mechanic, but not the owner. So husband humored me and called Heritage to see what they would charge for the same repairs recommended by the other guy. When we could save up for their boat payment, we took the car in. They were very good at explaining what repairs were needed. They repaired the car and we have been very happy. They did a good job, in a timely manor, and were friendly. We will take our cars there again. Heritage also has Car Talk columns posted on their bulletin board inside. So they can't be all that bad...

I've taken my cars to Heritage Car Care for 20 years and they always provide a first-class repair experience. The prices are reasonable and their honesty and fairness is impeccable. I've had both domestic and import cars worked on and have always been extremely satisfied.

HERITAGE CAR CARE is the gem of downriver auto repair shops. First and foremost, they are HONEST people. I have had my cars worked on over a dozen times at their shop. The work is always completed in a timely manner and at a reasonable price. Dan and Ted and their crew are all highly competent technicians. The office staff at Heritage is also very helpful and friendly. All in all, if you need any type of automotive repair and are near the Taylor area I would strongly suggest giving the fine people at Heritage Car Care a visit. I now live north of downriver but make the half-hour drive whenever I need maintenance or repairs on my automobile. Heritage Car Care is simply the best repair shop in metro Detroit.

Mr. Dan Basinger is absolutely the best mechanic around. He is honest, extremely competent and well-skilled, and treats customers in a friendly and pleasant manner. The work he's completed on my cars has always been nothing short of top-notch. I have no complaints about his service or his shop in general. I would strongly recommend anyone living in or near the downriver area to give Heritage Car Care and their talented chief technician, Dan Basinger, a visit when they need any type of car repair or maintenance. You won't find a better repair shop when it comes to honesty, fairness, pleasant employees, and a highly professional job well done.

I had my F-150 towed in...it was DOA. One of the mechanics called and said it was the positive battery cable. "How much?" I asked. He said that the cable is rusted pretty good to the starter and if it broke it would cost $350, but he put some penetrating oil on it and if it lets go the cost would only be $160. He did NOT have to tell me "worst case senario"...He could have said $350 right up front. They called back and told me the car was done...the cost $160. We have been going there for eight years. We now live even farther away, but still take our cars back to Dan, Don, and Ted. The additional towing charge is well worth it!

This shop is run by a great group of people who know what they are talking about when they explain your car problems to you. If you are new to the area, stop by Heritage before you take your car anywhere else - you'll never find a better place than this.

Simply the best auto repair shop downriver. Heritage Car Care has been serving my family well since the 70's. Dan and Ted are tops in their profession. Honesty, integrity, and quality repairs everytime.

Always explain the problem very thoroughly, and the cost to repair. Have always fixed the problem the first time. They do good work, and even helped me dispose of my old car when it was too expensive to repair.
