Martin and Son has worked on my car several times. They were honest and competent fixing the problems the first time, on schedule. They are very easy to talk to and will explain what is wrong and what needs to be fixed. Overall, very positive experience.

Since I'm new to the area, this shop was recommended by my son-in-law's friend. They are very honest and try to save you money on repairs you do need, and don't recommend repairs you don't need. You usually have to make an appointment a week in advance, but they'll try to work you in if it is a transportation emergency. They are good about telling you when they don't know what is wrong, and good about explaining problems when they do know.

My wife and I found these folks by checking this website (thanks, Click and Clack!). We've had a variety of things repaired, and on some occassions >not< repaired because they've told us that problems identified elsewhere didn't actually exist or weren't sufficient to be worth us spending the money on. They are occassionally booked solid, but they'll actually tell you that when you call so you don't end up waiting forever to get your car back. All in all, a nice place, and it's a >real< auto shop: everywhere in the shop except the waiting area is stained with dirt and oil, all accumulated honestly over several decades of service to the community.

When Martin senior was running this shop, they were terrific. Now it seems things have changed. I took my Toyota Tundra in because the heater controls weren't working properly. They had the truck 3 days, charged me right around $500 for a new part/w labor, and the heater worked worse than when I took it in. They said it needed another part and that would be another $500. I declined this offer. While there, they also found leaking rear axle seals, which they replaced. After a few weeks, the brakes didn't seem to be working properly. I took the truck to LaFontain Toyota in Dearborn, MI. They fixed the heater for $107. The rear brakes were had grease all over them, which is why they didn't feel right. So, I had a rear brake job done. Will I go back to Martin & Son? No!
