The service at Mallek is awesome! John is an excellent
mechanic as the rest of the crew. They have helped and
saved money for many of my friends. They will go out of
their way to find what's wrong with the car and listen to
what you have to say. My friends and I refer to them
as "the honest mechanics".

This is one of those in-town gas stations with good gas prices, a couple of bays for doing car work, two or three mechanics who have been there forever, a personable owner who plants flowers all around the place, plus good solid service, honesty, and ever

The one and only place I willingly took my car when I lived in Ann Arbor, where I grew up. They came highly recommended from my mother, and I've always been satisfied with the (vast) work they did on my car. They seemed to do their best to go above and beyond any reasonable expectations to always leave me with a warm fuzzy feeling 8) John is definitely quite a guy. I hope he sticks around for a long time!

I've read all the other comments and I agree that Mallek's is beyond wonderful. I've never heard a single word of complaint about them. I'd just like to add one thing: if they don't know how or are not equipped to do a repair, they SAY SO, and they'll recommend another shop that they know to be trustworthy. P.S. John's last name is not Mallek; he kept the previous owner's name when he bought the place. (Mallek was one of the two partners who started the business in 1940-something.)

These guys are incredible. They are very straightforward,
honest and have spent time (on more than one occasion)
evaluating my car or doing a minor repair for no charge.
They are always busy and it's obvious why. I wouldn't go
anywhere else. If all mechanics were like this, there
wouldn't be the stereotype of mechanics being rip-off
artists!

I enjoy knowing that I can have my vehicle taken care of
by Ron or John, sometimes I have just driven in and they
will take care of a quick fix for me. I have been stranded
and ron came and got me and drove me to work. I know that
they drive customer to work or back to home if they don't
have anyone else to do it. Dan who fills the tank and
cleans the windshield and checks the oil is always on top
of his game too.

I just brought my car to Mallek's for the first time, and
unfortunately I might not have a chance to use them again as
my wife and I are about to move. We had three problems that
we wanted them to check out. One problem is spotty with
start-up in the AM, and I can't blame them that they didn't
find anything. The second was the check engine light. The
third was a rattle/creak coming from the back. They took
time to investigate all three problems at no charge,
ultimately not recommending any work to address the
problems, although they did advise an optional solution for
the rattle in back that they said wouldn't matter for safety.
The only problem they actually resolved, for now, was the
engine light, but in fairness to them, probing further with
any of these issues would have cost us much more of their
time. I appreciated that they didn't advise for unnecessary
work, assuring that the unaddressed issues wouldn't impact
safety. I also appreciated that they didn't charge for the
engine check and driving the car twice to check for the
problems we had identified.
I would definitely return to them to try them out more if we
had the opportunity.
