In 1998 I got a 1986 Toyota MR2 which had spent about 6 years in a garage more or less undriven. The car was a real mess when I got it... it needed a new exhaust system, engine work, brake work. I took it to Illi's because there was so much to be done on it. After the initial work they did on it I found that it would start surging after being driven for half an hour, no one could figure out what was causing the problem. The guys Illi's spent a bunch of time and went above and beyond to figure out what was wrong... they basically turned the car into a roaming laboratory where they could get it into the conditions where the problem would occur. Illi's offered the best experience I've ever had with a car shop.

I find the prices quite good -- much lower than the dealer. and they're much more user-friendly. When I was at the dealer picking up a friend, I found I had a bulb burned out. When I asked if they could fix it, they told me I had to make an appointment. I tool the car to Illi's; Larry looked at it right away and fixed it in a few minutes.

This shop is three times as good as most, at 1.25 times the price. Larry continues what Ray (passed away, 2003) did so well: the most competent and thorough repairs available, and treating each customer as their most important client. In 50+ visits, over 15 years, and five vehicles, they have never done incomplete or shoddy work for us. They will alert you to issues which may arise for your particular model or engine. If you can imagine how an expert mechanic would treat their own vehicle, that is how yours will be treated. More costly?--Yes. A great value?--Definitely!

Larry is really a good guy. He is kind and make customers feel comfortable. Even you don't let them fix your car after hours of analysis and explanation on your car's problems, he will see you off smiling.

Illi's is the nicest mechanic shop I've ever been to. Larry is wonderful, and he always explains in great detail what's wrong, why it's wrong, and how important it is to fix. I love being able to ask how necessary a repair is and getting a straight answer. Also, as a woman, I've never been to a mechanic before that treated both me and my husband the exact same like they do. They are a touch more expensive, but they've also done a couple of things for me for free as a loyal customer that would cost me elsewhere.
