We found Saab Specific quite by accident after reluctantly buying a Saab for our youngest son. We had heard Saabs are expensive to work on IF you can find someone who can actually do the work. We first brought the car to Steve (the owner of Saab Specific) for small things like a window switch that didn't work and then to have one of the heated seats repaired. The excellent work and very reasonable prices have convinced us that no one else would ever work on any Saab that we own. We are currently in the market for a Saab for our other son, largely because of the quality and honesty at Saab Specific. Do not worry about bringing your Saab will be fixed right and for a fair price!

Saab Specific are the best mechanics I have EVER had in over 30 years!! My daughter got a Saab as first car about 3 years ago, and there were a few problems (as you have with Saabs), but Steve knows these cars backwards, and there is no problem he won't keeping working at to fix properly, and just as important with a Saab he does it at a VERY fair price. I wanted my daughter to learn about her car and what needs to be done to keep it maintained, not just rely on me. Steve was great, and he explained things to her, and even when I was there, he would talk to her and not me, because it was her car, which is exactly how it should be. If you have a Saab and live within 50 miles of Saab Specific, don't even think of going anywhere else!!

We trusted Steve Snow when he told us he would completely restore our Saab 900 SPG, and would have it to us in 6 months for $8000.00. Well 4 years and $10,000.00 later he presented us with a "frankenstein-like" car. He replaced the original SPG seats (which he said he'd re-cover) with some other 900 seats. Replaced the original stirring wheel with some nasty air bag stirring wheel. He replaced the odometer with over 400,000 miles (bragging rights for any Saab owner) with one that reads 175,000. The list goes on & on. The car rides horribly. The battery won't keep a charge (he bought it from Walmart). After Steve would not return any of our phone calls over many, many months-we have had it towed to another shop, where it will be restored properly. This has been a VERY costly lesson for us, but one we won't have to learn twice. We do not recommend this facility under any circumstances. Steve Snow should be ashamed.

I own a 9-3, which was in dire need of a new A/C compressor; however, all I knew at the time I called Steve (the owner) was that my car was making a terrible noise that was difficult to describe. The noise came and went, and on my way to the shop I feared the noise had gone away, and then it would be difficult for the shop to diagnose the issue. I drove into the parking lot at SAAB Specific, parked the car out front, and went inside to be greeted by Steve. I reminded him of our phone conversation, and how I feared the noise had inconveniently disappeared during the time between my call and my arrival. He said, "Nope! I heard you coming a mile away. It's an A/C compressor". He quoted a price, made a time-line, and got me a rental car without even popping the hood! 48 hours later, my car was fixed! I will bring all other SAAB repairs to this shop!

I am a Saab owner for the last 15 years and will only let Steve work on my car as Saabs are just different enough for an average mechanic to not understand one. I once had a rear brake light out and stopped in a local garage and 2 hours later the mechanic was throwing fuses around having a hissy fit. I brought it to Steve, should have anyway... and he replaced the brake light panel in like 20 minutes. It cost 10 dollars as he had a used one laying around. Another time my muffler fell off and I had it towed across the street, bad idea! They put it in wrong and it almost fell off again so Steve fixed it correctly as Saabs have unwelded muffler pipes. Steve is the most honest repairman I have ever dealt with and as a woman that is very important to me. I have been taken to the cleaners by many local garages as I look up the parts I am charged for and see what the mark up is. The biggest rip off going is Rouleau's in Somersworth who took me for thousands for a Jetta before I sold it and bought a Saab. I took it to Steve (Saab Specific) and I almost fell over at how reasonable his prices were. I reccomend him to anyone I know with a Saab and his business has really grown since he built his new garage in North Berwick, Maine. He is also a perfectionist and will go the extra mile for you by fixing small things and not even charging you. I will find a knob replaced or a bulb fixed when I bring it in for something else. He also looks the entire car over when he does an oil change just to make sure my car is safe. In a world full of price gouging and untrustworthy businessmen Steve is really a prince among mechanics. Unfortunately he only works on Saab's but if you have one he is the master of Saab repair. One time my car kept stalling and he actually came and fixed my car curb side in the winter which is beyond the call of duty. It was a spark plug problem but that kind of service is unheard of today. I just can't say enough good about Steve and Saab Specific as I am a very happy customer. My car runs great and when it needs a repair he does the job right and reasonably and he is a great guy besides. BTW- To the person who was sour grapes over their 4,000 dollar rehab all I have to say is for that price your lucky he could build you a car at all never mind some beautiful restoration! You can't even get a paint job for that money never mind a totally rebuilt vintage Saab! I guarantee you got a lot more then 4,000 dollars worth of repairs and stop being a cheap skate and and give credit where it is due.

If you want great quality work done at a reasonable price you need to see Steve at Saab Specific. He helped me pick out my first Saab and keeps it running great. His prices are very reasonable and he will give you an estimate before that he sticks with. He noticed my tires were bald and put some almost new ones on for a hundred bucks! He also goes over the entire car for my yearly inspection sticker in New Hampshire and if they don't give me one they have to deal with him. Clean, comfortable shop and waiting area to hang out in while he is fixing my car or changing the oil.

This is my mom's mechanic. She's 80, we'd trust her with no one else. She's been going to Steve for 20 years, and he has always been really good to her. He tries to SAVE HER MONEY by finding bits and pieces around (he has many great vehicles to cannibalize), and when he gives her a quote, he sticks to it, even when the true cost must have been much, much higher. Loaner cars when ever possible. He just loves working on Saabs I guess, and knows more about them than anybody. He just works away until the job is perfectly done. If I had to get a car in her area, it would be a Saab because Steve could work on it. I've found it rare to get a good reliable mechanic, who doesn't see a women and get all hot and sweaty-- at the thought of how much he can gouge out of her. Or older people. And its worse than 20 yrs ago. My whole family is glad (and relieved) that Steve is there to take care of our mother. No worries.
