Peter, generally speaking hates cars, and is in fact an avid road and mountain biker. BUT, of all cars in the world, he loves Volvos the most. As far as I can tell, the "independent" in Independent Auto refers to Peter's desire to make the customer ultimately independent of the mechanic, someone who can fix it themselves and leave him the heck alone. The best thing about Peter is that he always lets you hang out, look over his shoulder and even get into the work yourself. Of course this wouldn't be for everyone, but as someone who wants to run my Volvo till it dies, it works great for me.

Very nice guy to work with... Let me bring him parts to
install that I located via the internet. Since I got the
car from a friend who left it to me when she passed away(it
is a 1967 122S), and Peter had done work for her on this
car as well, he printed me a list of things she had him
work on so that I would know a bit more mechanical history
of the car. Very quick at diagnosing the presenting
problem. Even taught me how to start the car, since I had
never driven one with a choke before!! Came highly
reccommended to me, and I would reccommend again myself!

Peter is the Volvo guru of the area. He can sniff out
problems when they happen and before they happen. I'll
be sad if I ever get rid of my Volvo. Having a mechanic
that you can count on and is a great guy too is rare

If you own a rear-wheel drive Volvo, Peter Fitts is simply the best. He knows
these cars inside and out, he does excellent work, he is scrupulously honest,
and he actually charges less than many other, less qualified Volvo mechanics. If
he ever retires, I will sell my 240s.
