i've been living in westminster since 1986 my first encounter with ick was in 1986(by the way everyone calls him this, it is a shortening of his name) was when my 1981 vw dasher deisel blew a head gasket he fixed it right, expiditiously, and the price was fair i've stayed with him ever since he's gotten me two cars, on very short notice, that were very reliable and lived for more than a while you only asked about my car, between my wife and myself we've had vw's as well and he/they do them as well he's taken my car on short notice, and i do mean short and just has taken care of me, and truth be told i think he treats all like me as long as i'm here in westminster, he be da man

You can be sure you will be treated fairly and be told the truth about your car. We've been dealing here for 2 years, but my sister in law has been going there for over 20 years.

Icky and the guys take care of virtually all of our cars and they range from my Camry and 928 Porsche (they are the ONLY ones that I'll let touch the thing!) to my daughters 1962 A-H Bugeye Sprite (A project car that they have lovingly nurtured back to roadworthy condition. Now ... if I can just find another one for the other foot!) I have had several occasions where they could have made a ton of free money off of me or my girls but they declined. Case in point: One daughter owned a VW Corrado (that means heart attack in German)and the heater developed a serious leak. Icky could have (1)said nothing and replaced the heater core, (2)had the VW dealer do it under a recall and pocketed the charges or(3) arranged to have the dealer repair the heater core and charged the kid nothing! Icky is as honest as the day is long.

New to the area and had read the other comments re. this shop here on the CarTalk site. Concur totally!! I pretty much knew the problem was a simple battery replacement and with very professional service on a drive-in timeframe had same taken care of for a good price with the additional bene of now having a trustworthy mechanic shop while living in this local.

We had gone to "Ick," the owner and head mechanic, for
years until the dealer started luring us with discount
coupons. But after a trip to the dealer for a simple oil
change, we got hit with the "news" that our car needed
$2,000 worth of repairs and it was possibly too unsafe to
drive out of the lot. And we take GOOD CARE of this car!
I immediately called Ick for a second opinion, he fit me
in his busy schedule, and after an inspection of the old
Camry, declared it safe to drive for a long time. The power
steering system the dealer said needed a complete overhaul
turned out to be a little oil that had spilled. What was
the charge to find this out? Not a cent.
We will not be returning to the dealer, and are once again
in the International Foreign Cars family.

Ick took in a 1988 Honda Accord with severe problems. He
got it running better than any car I've had yet including
the Neon I bought new in 2001. Because Ick went the extra
mile diagnosing and repairing things that hadn't failed but
would soon, I have every confidence that this '88 will last
longer and run better than any other car I could have bought
for the money I paid. He also is honest about things that
"oughta" be fixed but aren't critical this very moment, and
was very patient with me when it took me a lot longer than I
thought it would to pay the full bill. I've been dealing
with Ick from Baltimore city and although there are cheaper
shops closer, he has my business as long as he wants it.

International Foreign Car Service has been my mechanics of
choice for more than 20 years. They have always been very
honest with me. And, I have seen them consistently
treating all of their customers as family. With IFCS, you
get professional service in a friendly, relaxed
environment.

I found Ick on cartalk.com. They are great! They really seem to know their
stuff and their prices seem reasonable. They also managed to squeeze me
into their busy schedule when my alternator went bad, even though I was a
new customer. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

I've been lucky enough to know Ik and his crew ever since I started driving 18
years ago. Always does a top notch job. I now drive up from Baltimore to
Westminster to get my car worked on. Strong, long-term and close crew.
