Recently my husband dropped the car off for a repair that should have cost $800. When the shop owner took a look at the problem, he realized that the part involved was under an extended warenty. He called me at home and let me know that I could get the repair done for free at a dealer and then even drove to my house to pick me up so I could take the car to the dealer that afternoon. RS is always fast and honest. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my car.

We had heard good things about RS and were very pleased. In addition to fast competent service, they were really friendly & pleasant. I definitely didn't feel like i was getting ripped off.

New to Takoma Park and used the comments in this site to determine where to go. Doley and team have been exceptionally kind and professional - had to have the timing chain replaced which they did and also made a necessary adjustment on the spot a few days later. I also stopped in to see if they could install a bulb in a headlight and again it was done on the spot in a most friendly manner and no charge! I felt at home at last - no one is more important than one's mechanic! I was also given recommendations for a fair car inspection - hope that works out as well, too.

Doley is patient, honest, and fair. I went here on the recommendation of a neighbor who had good experiences with his honest assessment of needed repairs. They have fixed a number of routine things on my car, and problem-solved when a VW specialist couldn't locate an annoying rattle. They will do only what is necessary to keep the car running given your budget--which is good for me because I don't have any leeway in my budget. Once after a couple of routine maintenance repairs were made, I noticed that the check oil light came on. I was only about 2 miles away so I took it back and they'd simply forgotten to re-attach the wires to the sensor. They apologized profusely and I was back on my way within 3 minutes. One of the first experiences I had there was with a persistent coolant leak that other shops couldn't diagnose. I had just filled the coolant myself and asked to use the shop's sink. The mechanic, Andy, asked what kind of car I drove and I told him. He told me what area typically leaked coolant on that type of car. Though they had trouble finding it at first, I ran the car until it was hot and found it, then brought it to them and showed them the spot. Sure enough, the leak stemmed from the area that Andy had named. Can't recommend this place enough.

Just what you'd want in a mechanic's shop - honesty and fair prices. They did extensive work on my car's brakes. They let me know repairs that might be coming a few years down the line. Didn't assume female incompetence. I work near the shop, and they dropped me off at work. Great guys, great work, highly recommend.

My main complaint has to do with my car's check engine light. I dropped the car off once because the check engine light came on. It was the code that basically means the gas cap was loose. They called after driving it for 10 miles "just to make sure everything was fine" and charged me $75. I thought that was a bit pricey for a code reset, but figured maybe they were just being extra cautious. The next time the check engine light came on, I dropped off my car, and specifically told them not to do anything if it was a minor code. They called and didn't leave a voicemail, and then, without talking to me, again drove it for 10 miles to make sure everything was fine. When I talked to the mechanic that afternoon (after they'd already taken it out), he told me what the code was, an emissions code. When I asked him if that was the gas cap code, he said that it wasn't, that there could be a problem with a pump. When I got the sheet detailing the work, I ran the code by a mechanic friend of mine, who immediately identified it as the gas cap code. It might be a small thing, but having the mechanic lie to me about it definitely makes me question the necessity of any of the other repairs they did. Even without that, the fact that they performed work I had specifically requested they not do, later trying to excuse it by pointing to the fact that they had tried to call me once, makes me unwilling to take my car back.

Dropped my car off here because of their convenient location. I wanted an oil change and got so much more-- my car is aging (2000) and needed work, which in the long-run they really saved me a lot of headache, but man-o-man-o-man are they expensive! I'm still paying it down. I hesitate to call them for an oil change because they might want me to sacrifice my first born to pay for it.

I have used this shop for years for a 2001 Toyota Prius, 1998 Toyota Sienna, 2004 Ford Focus for everything including replacing broken springs, balky ignition and charging systems, putting diesel fuel in a gas hybrid, repairing flat tires. My experience has been uniformly excellent. They do what they say they will do, on time, and within budget. I have never had to bring a car back a second time. I especially like that they call a week or so after the repair to make sure I'm satisfied.
