I initially went to Scott's because a friend said that he
was the reason that they kept buying Volvos. I heard this
right after my first visit to a Volvo dealer and was gouged!
On the first trip to Scott's, he did everything that was
not on warranty and listed what was. He recommended a
visit to the dealer for the warranty work. Then there has
been the timing belt thing. Although a specific interval
was sugested in the manual, Scott commented that Volvo had
since lengthened the recommended interval and that I could
wait until the next visit.
Finally, there is his website. Go there and enter your
last name and llicense number and up pops a listing of all
of the repais, and when, that they have done for the life
of the car. I asked Scott why he didn't market this system
and he said that it was a service to his customers, his job
was fixing cars!
I bought a used Volvo for my daughter because Scott's is
available and because I now have 270K miles on my 850.

They're faster, cheaper, and friendlier than the local Volvo dealers. They've never heard of the "Mechanic's Shrug." One nice touch - you can track your repair history with them on their website, so you won't be charged multiple times for the same service.

Best Volvo mechanic I have ever used. I wish they worked
on other makes too. They do a great job. Can be a bit
pricey, but they do the job the first time and do it right.

I still think of Scott's Specialties when I think of
outstanding car mechanics. He took care of my used 1995
Volvo for around 5 years, from when I bought it to when I
moved to Seattle in 2003(at roughly 80K miles), except for
some work at first from the dealer (Don Beyer Volvo). I'm
convinced it would still be running today had it had his
service rather than lousy work in Seattle that killed it 5
years later at 114,000 miles.
A friend at work told me she'd always taken her Volvo to
Scott's, and recommended the shop to others. Best tip I ever
had on a car mechanic!
Scott told me what needed doing, did it knowledgeably and
correctly EVERY time, told me things that were optional but
that he recommended not wasting time/money on. I always felt
he treated women and men equally as intelligent customers
(unlike some other shops I've encountered).

I've been using Scott's since 1993. They only work on
Volvos, and the quality and price are excellent. Most of
the the employees I know have been with Scott's "forever" -
very little turnover. Actually, I've stayed with the Volvo
brand because I knew I had a mechanic I could trust. I've
never used a dealer for work in over 16 years! Highly
recommended.
