The guys (Brian & Steve) at Foreign Auto Expert are great.
They are honest and kind and I would highly recommend
them. I once took in a list of recommended repairs that a
well known company suggested I get done and after they
looked at my car they said that none of it needed to be
done. That list was $1500 worth of work and they could
have told me that I needed some of it but they didn't.
Honesty and integrity that speaks for itself.

I used to live near this shop but years ago moved 40 miles
away. They are so good and so honest - they have sent me
home twice at NO CHARGE! - that I go out of my way to take
my cars there.

My wife and I both use Brian and Steve for our auto
maintenance. They have sent me to the dealer when they
think a problem is under warranty and they have told me that
a requested repair is not needed - "John, it ain't broke!"
I couldn't say how they respond when they screw up. I've
never detected them screwing up.
They have posted business hours, but they will make
arrangements for you to get your car and come back later to
pay them (or just leave the check in the slot).

Been going to them for years. You won't find anyone more
honest. They never once recommended any work beyond what I
came in for. If they say something needs to be done, then
it does. Thought I needed a new clutch once: they came
out, adjusted it, said it should have at least a few more
more thousand miles in it, and I was on my way, no
charge. They have the kind of integrity you'd be willing
to pay extra for, but you don't. The decision to replace
our 16 year old Honda with a non-foreign make was made
tougher knowing that we wouldn't be able to use them as a
mechanic.

I have a Subaru and Toyota and Foreign Auto Experts has
been performing all my major service for the last five
years. They do a great job at a reasonable price and I
would recommend them to anyone that needs service on a
foreign car! They will not try to sell you unnecessary
repairs. When they say you need a repair you can trust
their receommendation and they will take the time to
explain it to you.

I actually came to know about Steve and Brian through
Cartalk Mechanix file search. I recently purchased a 99
Honda Accord EX and the Maryland MVA requires a safety
inspection certificate before they issue a change-of-title.
The safety inspection test is also a way to fleece
less-informed customers with exorbitant rates for some
non-recommended repairs. I earlier had a *very bad*
experience with Merchants Tire & Auto Center when they
failed my car (in near excellent condition) for no-reason.
The reason cited was *worn-out* brake-pads. I couldn't
believe though.
I called up Brian to recommend a safety inspection center
and he suggested one and explained how the test is sometimes
misused by some crooks. As per his suggestion, I had it
inspected and it passed (as per my earlier instincts). I
went back to Brian to thank him and he also advised to have
my car serviced only if I sense some vibrations on the
steering wheel while braking. I am planning to leave my car
for future service with these guys. Already some existing
customers of them seconded it strongly.
Thanks Cartalk, for this wonderful site!

These guys are great. They really know Hondas and Acuras
and they charge far less than the dealer.

These guys are great! They tell you what your car needs.
They tell you what your car DOESN"T need! I feel very
confident that my car is OK when I leave there.

I started using these guys ~18 years ago, and they're
fantastic. They have never let me down, and countless
times I've gotten away far cheaper then I expected. One
time they even sent me to get an alternator on my way over
to their shop because they said it was on sale to retail
customers, it was just as good as the one they could get,
and it was far cheaper than theirs. Even including a 3rd
party towing price, I saved money with them over the quoted
price from another shop. They also often are advising me
on car repairs based on the age of the cars, which gives an
excellent perspect on what really needs to be done. These
guys are really as good as all that!

The heat shield on my '97 Subaru Legacy Outback had been
rattling & I took the car to the dealership where I
[foolishly]had always gone for service. Dealership said it
could not be reattached, it would eventually fall off, but
they'd cheerfully remove it that day... for $80. I decided
on the 'do nothing' option. After 18 months, it was still
rattling. The first time I took the car to these guys,
they noticed it was loose, reattached it, and charged me a
minimal amount. Now I can drive with the radio volume at
normal. Will I keep going back to these guys?? You betcha!
