We found Jake after glowing recommendations by local
consumers and automotive trade professionals. This garage
is a real find. Jake doesn't take on more work than he can
get to in a timely fashion. He is always patient, thorough
and reliable. After recent work, I was surprised at how
little he was charging us. I couldn't get him to charge us
for a one-hour minimum. He said, "If it had taken an hour,
I'd be happy to charge you for it," but it hadn't, and he
wouldn't. This is a good guy, and a good shop.

Seemed to think that it was hilarious that my rotor broke while being machined and almost took his head off. He then gave me a new rotor for the price of the machine work. After I left I noticed that the car shimied when braking. Went back and he immediately (in 1 day) replaced the 1 remaining old rotor for the price of the part. Great service, usually takes a while to get your car in, and it is a little more expensive than some others.

I have gone to Jake's for over 20 years and have never had anything but a very positive experience. Jake is always friendly, always gives options, always explains things, and is always reasonably priced.

I absolutely LOVE this garage. Jake and his wife are two of the nicest people I
have ever met! Jake is always willing to give me a call before he does the repair
to tell me what is wrong, how much it will cost and how much longer I can
postpone repair before disaster strikes! He also goes above and beyond the
norm when is working on my car, he'll be fixing one thing, notice a worn hose
or something and just fix it or just let me know about it so that I can keep an
eye on it.

Very friendly repair shop, they explain everything clearly
and I think it is a good shop for women to go to because
they are never condescending. Strength is mechanical more
than electrical. I also think Jake is more comfortable and
knowledgeable about American/Japanese than European cars.
Because they are busy they book a week in advance, so make
an appointment now before your problem gets really bad!
They have a service where they will look over used cars for
you if you need an unbiased opinion before making private
purchases. Walking distance to 354 bus route.

The A/C in my '04 Accord EX-L started to act flaky at the
beginning of the summer in 2010. The car had about 136k
miles on it when the problem started. I took it to 3
different shops (in Cambridge, Waltham, and Watertown)
before a friend recommended Callahan's in Woburn.
The first mechanic I took the car to in Cambridge suspected
that it was the A/C compressor, but he was not confident in
his diagnosis and therefore did not want to do a replacement
and find out later that the problem was with something else.
(I have to respect his honesty and professionalism.) He
estimated that the repair would cost $1200 and suggested
that I take my car to an A/C specialist.
I visited a few other "A/C Specialists" who thought a simple
recharge would do the trick. I even left my car with the
Waltham shop several days only to find out that they not do
any further diagnostics while I was gone. After a rather
warm and humid summer in Boston, I was starting to consider
just selling the car rather than drive in an oven.
A friend referred me to Callahan's in Woburn. The owners,
Jake and Holly Callahan, did a GREAT job in the following
key areas.
1.) Treating me with respect and dignity... something I felt
was lacking at the Waltham and Watertown mechanics.
2.) Letting me know exactly when they could schedule me in
to give proper attention to the diagnosis of my car.
3.) After they took the time to diagnose the problem (bad
clutch on the A/C compressor), we talked about repair
options and their respective costs.
4.) Scheduled me to come back and drop the car off for the
repair once the replacement parts were delivered.
5.) Presented me with a fair price (below the original $1200
I was quoted in Cambridge)
Jake and Holly respected both my time and my wallet. I
would go back to them in a HEARTBEAT! 5 Stars for
Callahan's Auto!
