Mike is a piece of work, a New Yorker -- accent included -- living in a New England College Town. He is an extremely competent mechanic and will make good if he goofs or if replacement parts are faulty. He specializes in foreign cars, particularly Saabs and Volvos, but he handles all makes and models well.

Mike's been at this for quite a while..a laid back character who enjoys cars and doesn't get impatient with all the wacko college town types hanging around wanting to reminisce about the 14 cylinder Humber Super Snipe they had in 'aught 63. As a former wrencher I usually just get parts through him, but when I've had enough of maintaining my fleet (now 2 Volvos, 2 XJ6s, 1 SAAB, 1 FIAT Spider...) I take them to Mike -- except the Jags..he won't touch the Jags. someone has to has some sense...

I can't say enough good things about these guys. I once got an estimate for some work from one of the big garage chains that came in around $800. I took my car to Flamingo Motors and walked out a very satisfied customer $250 later. Some of the items the chain had claimed needed fixing were fine and the rest were all fixed for significantly less than the estimates I had been given. I've been back many times since and they may be the biggest reason I regret leaving town.

Mike and others who work there truly go above and beyond in their willingness to patiently answer customers' questions, explain things that customers don't understand, and offer their services at *extremely* reasonable prices. I have complete faith in their knowledge, ability and honesty and wouldn't go anywhere else for car repairs or advice.

While working on my car outside of their shop one warm summer day, it rolled backward and struck a truck that was parked in their lot behind my car. When I called to see if my car was ready, I got an "oh, by the way" and they proceeded to apologize and to let me know what had happened and that it was about a $2,000 job. By then, however, they had already made arrangements with the best body shop in the area to get it fixed and paid for, by them of course. I went to the body shop that day and also convinced them to fix and touch up a few other areas on the car. I still don't know if that body shop did the extra work out of courtesy to me or if they somehow padded the bill that my repair guys were taking care of. (any bets?)

Friendly, honest, great sense of humor, flexible. Shop is gritty but fun. If they can't fix it they'll tell you, and tell you where to go! Best with older Swedish cars.

These guys are great. I wish that I had more time to hang out at Flamingo. They explained things and were very clear about what things were safety problems and what things were minor concerns when there were problems with my car. Also, I didn't mind being a female customer - they treated me like a person.

My daughter goes to college in Williamstown and needed a garage familiar with Volvos to work on her car. I found Flamingo on the Car Talk website. They have worked on both her Volvo and my Volvo and have given great service on both vehicles at a very reasonable price. They solved a starting problem on my Volvo that had been bugging the car for at least 2 years. Two different dealer shops and one independent shop had all failed to repair the problem. They guys at Flamingo kept the car in the shop until they could get the problem to occur for them and then properly diagnosed it and fixed it. I only wish that their shop was in my town because after our daughter graduates we will no longer be close to Flamingo.
