Very professional and efficient! I opted to wait for my vehicle and the waiting area was very nice! The estimate was explained in detail and the service was prompt. I will definitely bring my vehicle back to this shop!

Mike is simply the best -- and I have dealt with plenty of very good mechanics in the past. He works really fast; he calls before doing any work to give a price breakdown (the way they're all supposed to- but rarely do!); and he'll offer his opinion if asked. But I felt no pressure whatsoever to say yes to the costly repairs. He seems completely honest and trustworthy. And he is absolutely friendly, comforting, and respectful. His waiting room is spotless. It has fun historical photos of the neighborhood, in addition to a water cooler, coffee machine, a huge flat screen t.v., and lots of light. Incredibly, I had my car back the same day. He has a really cheap deal with Enterprise if you need to rent a car while he works on yours. (Unfortunately he said he provides no loaner cars, despite what other people have posted here.) My only complaint is that he's closed on weekends and by 5:30 on weekdays. I needed a tow a few weeks ago on a Friday night, and he wouldn't have looked at the car until Monday. So I chose another garage. Well, have lived to regret it. So despite his somewhat limited hours, Mike will be my mechanic from now on!

I'm sad to say that after years of going to Mike's Auto, I've finally learned that they've been majorly ripping me off. I don't know why I never took my car somewhere else for a second opinion until now (I trusted you, CarTalk website!). Here's what happened: Mike quoted me $845 to fix my car's latest problem, and I told him I couldn't afford it and so was going to donate my car. He said okay, go ahead and donate. But before I gave the car up, I decided to take it to A L Prime Energy on Summer Street for a second opinion. One of their mechanics, Jose, diagnosed the exact same problem and quoted me $400. He was also nice enough to explain that it was a two-part problem, but only one of the parts was in dire need of a replacement. For $200, he could replace that part, and he estimated that the fix would last 6 months to 2 years before I'd need to replace the second part. He also told me that my car is in good shape otherwise. I really appreciated hearing that, because after years of taking my car to Mike's Auto, I was used to thinking it was a horrible car constantly in need of expensive repairs. I also learned why places like Mike's Auto are so expensive: they charge you the list price for replacement parts (when they themselves pay only a fraction of the list price), and then potentially overcharge you for labor on top of that. In sum, I feel like Mike's Auto took advantage of me, and I won't go there again. If you want good work done on your car for an honest price, go to A L Prime Energy at 73 Summer Street. They do inspections, too.

Major Scam Shop here! Costs for repairs were nearly DOUBLE what they should be. The original manufacturer part was $130... from the MANUFACTURER! He charged $250 for a REMANUFACTURED! AAA backed shop REFUSED to give the AAA discount! I was told that he "actually did an extra hour of work" and he would "have to add that to the bill" if I wanted the discount that I was entitled to!!!! HUGE RIP OFF, DO NOT USE THIS SHOP! There are 50 others around that will not rip you off.
