I never, ever, never, really ever would have taken my car to a oil change "strip 'em and rip 'em" joint except on the strong recommendation of the trustworthy and very clean ARC garage folks who said, "John Ricci is the best Ford guy around." So I took a chance, and, although we did encounter a few hangups (probably not the shops fault -- the problem was a real headache), the work was done fast, and everything is under warranty. Mr. Ricci even swapped a warrantied, defective part I had installed for me at a local parts shop. All in all, a very good experience.

The fastest place in the area to get an oil change or a tune-up--I've never had to wait. They are always courteous and don't try to sell you stuff you don't need. I am a female customer and I was treated very professionally there. Highly recommended.

I moved to Northampton from Illinois and needed a place to get my state inspection done. A colleague said he'd gone to Pro Lube a number of times, and that they seemed fair and honest. It's now 3 years later, and I've continued to go to Pro Lube for oil changes on my '92 Toyota Camry and yearly state inspections. They also put a new battery in for me and did some exhaust repairs. They may not be the absolute cheapest place in town, but I also never wonder if I'm getting cheated. They take the time to explain the repair. I don't know if they treat me the same as they'd treat a guy, but I've never felt disrespected or taken advantage of.

So you say you've got some extra money to burn? Maybe you're in a Brewsters Millions situation and need to spend a lot of money fast with nothing to show for it? I've got the place for you! Come on down to Pro Lube Auto Center in Northampton, MA! Now, ladies, before you go in you'll want to make sure you have an interpreter with you. Your interpreter should have male equipment. Maybe you should just ask him to whip it out and put it on the counter before the conversation begins. A thick beard on a weathered face wouldn't hurt. Maybe you could hire one of those gentlemen with the cardboard signs who stand in the median? Go ahead and give him a script of what you need him to say because Andy at Pro Lube doesn't believe that someone with a hoo-ha can determine the back of the car from the front of the car. Don't forget to use simple, small words in your script because even the words "seize" and "up" were too complex for this band of neanderthals to derive meaning from. Again, if it's Brewsters Millions you're going for, by all means wear a dress and don't bind the girls but, if you aren't covertly burning through an inheritance you'll want to go with the male interpreter. The male interpreter is not for them - it's for you. The male interpreter will take one look at this group of imbeciles and be able to tell you that they couldn't tell a brake shoe from a rabid alpaca. Seriously, don't go here. You will get ripped off and when it's done you won't be able to explain how it happened. With that said, Ernie's is a great place with dudes you can talk to. Go there.

I would like to amend my last review. Even though this garage dropped the ball they were AMAZING when it came to making things right. I received a call from the owner letting me know that he would be paying for the service I'd moved to another garage. I was absolutely stunned to receive a personal call and such a grand gesture to win my confidence back. John is a rarity in today's business climate and I wish he and his staff the very best.
