Left my car with symptoms (oil leak, emergency brake light
comming on intermittently, brakes vibrating slightly) which
they could have claimed to be as serious as they wanted to
make them and charge me hundreds. In fact they only had to
agree with my diagnosis of the brake light coming on
(faulty sensor switch, which is what another place told me)
and replace it. As it turns out they found a loose oil cap
(from my last oil change, not at this shop), which they
tigthened, a slight drop in brake fluid level, which they
topped off fixing the energency brake light coming on, and
they told me that if I wanted to spend hundreds now they
would be happy to do a brake job but that it was perfectly
safe to wait until the brake pads wear down a bit more. All-
in-all uncharacteristically honest for car mechanics.

Exceptional service and honesty. Scott and his partners
have consistently been one of the best shops I have ever
been to (40+ years of dealing with cars and repairs). They
recently worked on my son's Saab for me (137K miles) to
address a number of issues and they made sure we knew
exactly what needed to be done and the costs, as well as
doing the work timely and completely. Wouldn't go to
anyone else for work on my Saabs.
(They also now work on Audis as well besides Saabs and
Volvos.)

Service Above and Beyond has been under new ownership for several years
now. Scott is the owner and Phil is co pilot. The shop was relocated to
Holliston in late 2009. The phone is (508) 881 1999. They are Volvo gurus.
I have owned Volvos since I graduated college in 1973. But, until I smartened
up---sometime around 2005--- I was addicted to the dealers' service
department. The last time I was at the dealer, with the check engine light on,
I was told I needed a new catalytic converter ($1500 or something like that )
because, "you will get terrible gas mileage and your car will never pass
inspection." They also said, "Hey what do you expect, your car is getting older
now." I HAD JUST COME OFF THE WARRANTY.
In desperation I stopped by Service Above and Beyond. They shut off the light
and said, "Don't worry about it, it's nothing, no charge" Guess what, I get
great mileage and I've gotten 4 inspection stickers since then and nothing has
ever had to be done with the catalytic converter!
I have so much confidence in them. I would never go anywhere else. They
are pros and they are always honest and reasonable.
