I've been going to Tom & Carole Elliot's Auto Engineering for years. Always treated curteously and informed of their findings before work in performed. Artie the head mechanic knows it all. Anecdote... '92 Ford Taurus (F.O.R.D you know what that means..) was delivered new with play in the steering wheel. The dealer wouldn't acknowledge it even after several visits. Finally took it to Auto Engineering and Artie told me I needed TieRod Ends. I couldn't believe it, but let him do it. Perfect fix, steers great now. Recently took it in for bad horn. They found a shorted wire in steering column. Tough hunt, but they found it. They also have a free shuttle service to get you to work. Great shop if you've got a problem.

I have been very pleased with the service I have received from Auto Engineering. I'd recommend them to anyone who doesn't mind paying a little extra for top quality work. They are extremely professional (ASE certified techs, clean shop, etc.) but I sometimes find the owners to be in somewhat of a bad mood (grumpy). I believe that they are very good people and I just caught them at a bad time. To sum it up, Auto Engineering is the best shop on the North Shore in my opinion.

They don't charge much more than any other shop in my
opinion, but every time I have dealt with them, the work is
done fast and right the first time. They cover every step
that needs authorization, they explain everything, and they
even tell you when something can go a bit longer without
needing to be fixed, and about how long it will last. AAA
certified shop (that means their work is backed by AAA for
12 months) and all the techs are ASE certified last I knew.
Once I found them I have not been to anyone else for doing
the work I don't want to do myself. (I have done my own
breaks, in tank fuel pump replacement, oil change, radiator
replacement, water pumps, alternators, starter motors,
belts, spark plugs, distributors, filters, anything
electronic, radios, antennas, fuel injectors, and other
things I can't think of, so I think I have an idea what I am
talking about.)

This guy is a thief and a liar. I took my car in for a sticker and he claimed the front right tie rod was so badly in need of repair that he couldn't in good conscience let me leave the shop. Wanted $400 or $500 to repair, but he could do it quickly and I'd be on my way.
He did not know that my own shop mechanic at work had just changed my oil and fully inspected the vehicle. I drove back to my work (at my own risk of course) and had my car put back up on the lift and the tie rods fully checked. THEY WERE FINE.
THIS GUY IS A FULL FLEDGED SCAM ARTIST. HE PULLED THE SAME THING ON A FRIEND OF MINE. I TOLD HIM THE STORY AND HE MENTIONED THAT HE GOT A STICKER DONE AT THIS PLACE AND ENDED UP PAYING FOR A NEW TIE ROD.
SCUMBAG PIECE OF TRASH THIS GUY IS.
I've never been compelled to review anything on line, but hopefully someone will read this and choose another mechanic.
