After experiencing poor, overpriced, dishonest service from another shop a 1/2 mile away, I took my 2001 Volvo to Ray on a friend's recommendation. Instead of $250 to replace an ignition coil, Sawyer did it for $150. In addition, they found and removed a wire bundle that was pinched under a housing (probably due to the previous mechanic). Instead of $500 to replace the right front spindle, they replaced two bolts on the strut for less than half the other guys' estimate. Ray and his son Mike are honest, straightforward, and pleasant.

I had a car problem soon after I moved here from Long Island, New York, and my new landlord, a local of many generations, recommended this place. Ray, the owner, started asking about my "cah," and was none too pleased when I told him he sounded like Click and Clack. He fixed my car anyway. I've been using this small, reliable, friendly shop for 2 1/2 years and am very happy with the service.

I consider Sawyer's automotive as one of the great luxuries attendant to living in West Acton. Drop it off, walk home, pick it up with the work competently completed. Reasonable charges, never feel taken advantage of.
