These guys are supremely honest. They are a small shop,
so they don't do a lot of things, but they have made good
recommendations for me. And they usually do not charge me
if they check out my car and determine that its something
that they can't do. And their work is always satisfactory
the first time.
Once when I went to a large, well-know shop for something,
I got a bait-and-switch routine. I stood my ground and
got the work done for the price they originally quoted
me. During my discussion with the mechanic, I told him
that I would call Scotty's who had recommended them. When
I called the next day, this mechanic had already talked to
Brian at Scotty's to tell him his side of the story. Now,
when I need something that Scotty's doesn't do, often he
says, "I know you've had issues with *******, but they
will do the best job, and they have a tow truck." Now
when I go to *******, I get treated with respect.
And I still go to Scotty's whenever I can.

Brian Young and his father (Scotty) operate this small
shop. They don't work on older cars that they don't have
the proper equipment to analyze, but they will recommend
someone else that is almost as good as they are. It's
almost like having my dad and brother around to keep my
car in shape.
They are very thorough and completely honest! And they
will tell you if something is going to cost more than your
car is worth. (If you haven't figured it out, I drive a
10-year-old car.)
No matter what you take your car in for, they notice
things like expired or expiring inspection stickers and
tags. They will call to see if you want them to do the
inspection, and they will remind you about the tags.
I moved away for a few years, and still came back to
Scotty's when I could. When I left, my son was a senior
in high school and he stayed here and lived with his dad.
I instructed my son always to take his car to Scotty's no
matter what Dad wanted to do. Dad called me one day to ask
how I had found these guys. He was amazed at their
honesty and reasonable prices.

"Scotty" and Brian Young are the best. My family has been
taking them our cars for as long as I can remember. They
really care about their customers. I once brought in my
car and the problem was major, as in endangering my life.
They refused to allow me back behind the wheel. I had to
have the car back so they fixed it right then and there.
I've had cars towed over 100 miles just to get it back to
these guys. I've since moved away and truly wish I could
take them with me. At least I know my grandma, mom, and
brothers are in good hands.

I was glad to see Scotty's on the list and I wanted to add
my say. Brain and his father in law are the best and most
honest folks I have ever brought my vehicles too. They
explain repairs to me and don't mind taking the time to do
it. I went there first for an annual inspection and was so
impressed with them that I brought my truck back for work
when it needed it. The place is so clean, you could
probably picnic on the floor. It is spotless! If they see a
problem you should know about, they tell you or call you
about it and give you an estimate if you decide to have it
fixed. I send all my friends (female and male alike), my
husband and my daughter to them.

My family has been bringing their cars to Scotty and Brian
for as long as I can remember. They'll tell you straight
up what's wrong with your car and if it's even worth
fixing. They are always very honest about their pricing.
Even now that I live across the country, any time I'm back
home, I bring my car to them just to have it checked out.
When I had to bring in my very first car in to them, it
had a problem that could not be recreated in the shop.
They asked to keep it over night to be able to take it for
test drives. Their test drives aren't the quick trip
around the block like some places; they drive your car
like you would drive it, to run an errand or pick up
something from the store. I was running to the bank for my
Grandmother and there's my car, out in the bank parking
lot. Scotty and Brian had taken it for a real test drive.
When I met up with them in the bank, they told me they had
felt exactly what I had described to them and had if fixed
in no time.
They are wonderful and honest mechanics, and stand-up
gentlemen.

An update to my comments in 2005 - Don "Scotty" has died,
and is greatly missed. Brian continues to run the same
quality operation. I'm driving the same car I was in 2005,
now 14 years old and running great, thanks in large part to
Brian's and Don's care and advice over the years.

Brian has always given me excellent service and explained
everything thoroughly. As a small shop, there are some
services he cannot perform at his shop, and he advises me
where I can take my car for reliable service. As a woman,
it is valuable to know I can take my car for repairs and
not have someone call and tell me it needs extra repairs
and will cost more. This garage was referred to me by a
friend who has always had good service, also. They have
been in business since 1964 and have a good reputation. I
feel fortunate to have a mechanic I can trust.

I have found the owner to very honest and has saved me
unnecessary repairs (and thus, money) recommended by the
dealership or others. I appreciate the fact does not try
to speak to me as if I know nothing about cars just because
I'm female. I have found him to completely honest and
extremely capable. I wouldn't take me car anywhere else.
