I have always had used cars and have had plenty of
mechanics. Manfred and the guys at Autohaus are the best
I have ever known and I have used them 3 times. Manfred
always takes time to really explain to you what is up with
your car and gives you every option and the prices for
each option. He will give you the prognosis on something
that if you don't do it, this or this is what will
probably happen. 3 years ago we had about $1,200 of work
done on our 1995 Mazda Millinnia. In addition to the work
we had done, he looked at the rest of the car to make sure
it was running well and told us that for our oil leak
problem that we needed to replace all the valve seals
(probably $400 more). But he said that it might not be
worth it for the age of the car and that if we just made
sure to keep oil in it (it needs 2-3 quarts a month), then
it would probably be fine. We didn't fix it and it is
doing well. He just gives you the whole picture, and he
will tell you if it would be "unsafe" to continue driving
in whatever condition your car is in. He won't tell you
what to do, but he will make sure you are informed so you
can decide for yourself. They get things done when they
say it will be done and they ALWAYS call before they do
anything, so that you consent for what you want done. The
first time I went, I had already had a quote done at
another mechanic, and Autohaus' quote was lower and they
just gave me better information. So I feel like their
prices are very fair. I always talk to Manfred. Just ask
for him. They have him handle talking to all the
customers. He is German and sometimes you might not
understand something he says, but in general he is easy to
understand. Oh, and also, I think he is very respectful
of women and talks to me just like he does my husband and
doesn't talk down to me. I have never encountered a
mechanic like them - it is kind of unbelievable and I
almost don't want to share the information so too many
people know about it! But they deserve it so I wanted to
do this. Our junker car is still going...thanks to
Autohause Merkle.

The shop performs competent and honest work at a reasonable
price. It's a treat to take my VWs to a shop where the
mechanics speak with a German accent. Even the grounds are
guarded by a German Shepherd!

Manfred gives fair quotes and honest opinions and lets you make up your own mind about repairs. They will install parts that you have purchased and bring to them.I have never experienced that before.
