Buzz runs the place; "Gruff-but-lovable" Wayne is his sidekick. What these guys know about cars and automotive technologies is spooky; I guess that's why they hate cars so much. The only caveat with Buzz and Wayne is that they'll be brutally honest with you about your choice of vehicle ("Why any idiot would drive one of these XXXXX's beats the hell outta me..."); your refusal to give up the vehicle ("Why the hell didn't you get rid of this thing like I told you to a year ago?"); or your choice of a replacement vehicle ("You traded for this thing? Come sit in my office and let me tell you what's likely to happen to you and your new vehicle in the coming years..."). These guys are the best and the most honest mechanics I've ever seen; (don't tell them we said this) they even do repairs for no charge if its minor, no parts are involved, and they're in a better mood than usual. Whatta couple of guys.... And yes, they have boats.

Buzz and his employees are honest people and excellent mechanics and have been repairing our cars for about ten years. We drive older cars that we have bought used and he helps us to maintain them and save money. My oldest daughter went to college with her car and the first time it broke down, she took it to a huge fancy dealership recommended by friends. They had the car a week and were still "investigating", didn't have a clue what the problem was, and had already run up over $300 in labor and parts. She called me in desperation. I told her, "Get your car out of there immediately and TAKE IT TO AUTOTORIUM." She did, and Buzz had the problem diagnosed and fixed in an afternoon (alternator). I recommend Autotorium highly!

I looked at the comments online for the Lafayette area and decided to try these guys out. They are GREAT! While their location isn't too impressive, they make up for it with skill and reasonable prices. Every time I had a problem with my car they would look at it, tell me with accuracy how much it would cost, and also explain instances where things may require more $$ like when I had an AC problem. I would recommend this shop above any other shop in the area! I visited some other garages under those national outlets in town - they just suggest more and more charges once you take your car in. I never had that at Autotorium - they told me what I had wrong and straight up how to fix it.

Excellent mechanics, honest and fair and very reasonable rates. Buzz is better for knowing. If Buzz has too much character for your taste, speak to Ralph the kinder gentler member of the pair. They have taken care of the family vehicles (5) for over 5 years now and I been really satisfied with all of their work.

This place is awesome. I brought my car in after the dealer told me it would need costly repairs that made me think I would have to get a new used car. I came on this site and read reviews, and took it to the AutoTorium. The diagnosis I received elsewhere was totally wrong, and Ralph diagnosed my problem and fixed it the same day. Then he took the time to explain everything and show me exactly what had been wrong. He very patiently answered all my questions, and now, not only will I get to keep my car, but I found a great mechanic! Life is good! Thanks!

I have used these guys twice to repair my daughters car. She is a student at Purdue and unable to get to their shop during the day. I have been able to deal with them on the phone and have her drop the car off. It is always fixed and ready when promised at a fair price. My experience is that they will never take advantage of you and are very honest.

As a student at Purdue, I was a little weary of choosing a repair shop when I moved into town. After reading the favorable feedback on this site, I chose the Autotorium and am very glad with this decision. I had my air conditioner replaced, sway bars replaced, and several other repairs (yes, I have an old car), and these mechanics were ALWAYS honest with me. When my air condition went out, they explained what steps they would do to diagnose the problem, as well as the estimated costs. Their costs were below those charged by dealers and other repair shops in the area, but the quality was still top-notch. If you go other places (like I mistakenly did a few times), you'll be charged for unnecessary repairs. But, if you go to Autotorium, you'll get your car fixed right!

They seem like a good enough shop - old school attitude is still in effect.

Not the most chatty, but you can't find a better price. Very efficient - in my experience, they can generally get the work done the same day. They are very honest and don't push unnecessary work (although they will point out things to keep an eye on). Overall, nice guys & good service.
