More than once the owners have gone out of thier way to diagnose my car problems even when they were near closing or had other matters to attend to..

I was new to the town. My disc pads, I knew, needed replacing, because of the sudden scraping sound. Not knowing anyone, I went to a chain tire and repair outlet that will remain nameless, except that it rhymes vaguely with "ire moan" I received a call about an hour later and was told that many terrible things had been found wrong with my tires, wheels and brakes and that it would come to $1,100. I asked them to please put my car back together. I picked up the car and drove just down the street to the Oak Park Citgo and decided to give it a try. Put it back in shape for just over $200. They have been doing nothing but topnotch work ever since. (Even more topnotch than I ask for; I once blew a tire on a car I planned to trade in rather shortly and asked for two new replacement tires, saying "cheap ones." The reply from the owner, and I knew him well enough now from repeated visits to know he was being straight with me and not pad a bill, was, "I'm sorry. We won't sell cheap tires.")

Took my car to this shop after reading positive reviews here and on yelp. I'd taken my car to Jiffy Lube for oil change and tire rotation. They claimed that I needed new brake pads and tried to send me to their brake shop up the street. I declined and took it to John at the Citgo shop. Dropped it off at 8 am and heard back by 9:30 am. Told me that my brakes were fine and that I had at least 10,000 more miles before they needed replacing. Also got a reading on my check engine light and told me it was just the evaporator system--need to get fixed before my next emissions test, but nothing that makes the car unsafe to drive. Refreshingly honest and knowledgable, and did all of this free of charge.
