After the Volvo dealer down the road won't return your call, then charges you full price for half a job, take it to Darren at Ben's Volvo repair. Darren is the only truly honest mechanic I have ever met. I believe that he works on Swedish Bricks because he truly enjoys it. Making a profit appears to be a secondary motivation. The level of knowledge and customer service here is amazing. Even the woman who answers the phone has a high level of knowledge when it comes to issues and repairs. They treat every customer very well. Because this is the worst kept secret in Lake County, your Volvo may wait for a while in order to get serviced. Fortunately, Avis rent a car located next door.

One of the saddest days was when I moved from the town where Ben's Volvo is located (Libertyville, IL). I felt like I lost a relationship with a doctor I trusted when I moved away, to Kalamazoo, Michigan of all places after I retired at the end of 2013. The owner of Ben's is Darren. He worked for and bought the shop from Ben, who retired and now lives between Sweden in the summer and Florida in the winter. I trust Darren implicitly and recently returned for a visit to the area and took my car back to Ben's and asked Darren to give it the once over and fix things that are broken. If you have a Volvo, I can't think of a better place to get it serviced.
