This place does a good, honest job. I have had a new clutch put in, maintenance work done, and breakdown repairs done over the last five years and have never had any problems with their work. When we first moved out here 5 years ago, we thought we needed a new clutch - a dealerships said we needed one within the next month, however, after getting a second opinion from Pete, he said I had a good 10000 miles left on that clutch. So I was able to wait, and save myself $500. He didn't even charge me for the clutch check! The other great thing is their honest pricing strategy. At the dealerships you can't just take your car over in November and say "Please look over our car and make sure its OK to drive this winter - as if your daughter is going to drive it," and expect to have them look at everything and only replace what is necessary. With Gurnee Transmission I usually have a bill for less than $100 and the peace of mind to know that my wife will be safe driving the car all winter.

Very satisfied. We own four cars, a Honda, Ford, Buick and Chevy, and the work has been done correctly, reasonably, and in a timely manner on each.

The engine of my Saturn SL1 started thumping hard on the way home one snowy night. It had never made that noise before, and all I could find out by searching the Net was that it was probably something very bad and expensive. I took the car to Pete, who drove it around a bit. By that time, a few days after the first incident, the noise had died down. Pete said he was unable to get it to thump--but he also explained what was probably causing the thumping (cold weather) and why it wasn't thumping now (warm weather). He told me to bring it back if it started thumping again, and he DIDN'T CHARGE ME A THING. That was a few months ago on my first visit to the shop. He was right about the car; I haven't had any problems with it since.

Working with Pete to find out what was wrong with my transmission was a pleasant experience. He took the time to diagnose the problem and gave me two choices to approach correcting the problem, each was based on price. Over all, it was very easy to deal with the shop.

I was quoted one price for my transmission. I brought the vehicle in, and they had it for a week. When I went to pick it up, I was given a bill for about 50% higher than quoted. They had replaced items they knew were good and looked brand new, because they were (CO2 sensor, etc). Pete Krupa took me in his office and looked at me with puppy dog eyes and told me how times were tough and his employees were suffering. We settled the bill at a higher than quoted price (which I should not have done since the repair failed within about 3 months). I took it back in for them to fix their mistake, and I told them to perform work under warranty only or I needed them to call me. I was told it was fixed when I picked it up, but was stranded the next day because they did not do anything to it. It was back in their shop the next day, but they had conveniently forgotten my instruction about warranty work or phone call. When I picked the vehicle up, they handed me a bill. I told Pete this was the second time he was playing games with me. I told him I researched the auto repair law RCW 46.71. He then yelled at me and handed me my keys. Please don't use this shop unless you want this kind of conflict and stress.
