The guy there is incredibly polite, tells you how other places will rip you off, never does more than is needed, talks you out of stuff you don't need but think you do, fixes things for free if he messes up, treats men and women the same--polite and straightforward. He told me I could do most stuff myself and if I ever wanted to learn, he would give me a pair of coveralls and let me come in the shop and he would teach me to do anything he's doing to my car. I swear by this place. I found it when I lived within walking distance. I now live about half an hour's drive away and still go there.

I went to this shop after reading an article in the local paper. One of the staff members took a car to 6 different shops and reported on what each shop said was wrong and how much they would charge for the repair. They diagnosed the problem correctly and were the least expensive. That's been my experience as well. I've been using them for several years and they won't do work until they think it's necessary. Only place I've ever been that talks you out of repairing your car and explains what they are doing. One time I had water dripping into the car - took it in - they fixed the problem - and didn't charge me a thing - it was just a hose that had disconnected. I always take my cars here for repair.

This is primarily a tire shop. I took my car in during a SNOW STORM looking to replace 2 of my balding tires. They recommended and ordered the tires and told me to come back. When I showed up to have the tires mounted, they had ordered the wrong tires. Told me the correct tire would be much more expensive. I pointed out that they had quoted me a price and they needed to stick to it. They reluctantly agreed. I brought the car back. They put the tires on. The car, which had previously been good in the snow, was all over the road. The skidding was terrible. A couple of months later, I took the car to another place to have the other 2 tires replaced, and they informed me that the tires I had purchased from Consolidated were SUMMER TIRES! Hence the control issues on snow and ice. I went back to Consolidated to find out why they would sell me Summer tires in a snow storm, and the owner went off on me, telling me it was my fault. I wasn't looking for a refund. I don't know what I wanted. I just wanted some kind of satisfaction from a place whose incompetence and negligence could have resulted in me, or my family members, being killed! I went in; they recommended a tire to me. They botched the whole thing, but it was my fault. I run a business. I wouldn't be in business long if I treated my customers the way I was treated. The consolidated version: the owner is a jerk.

I used to love this shop and in fact on the positive reviews from 2007 is mine. But they have changed staff and the new staff is terrible. They gave me estimates for hundreds of dollars of unnecessary repairs. I took it in to be looked at and winterized to make sure all the belts were in good conditions, get new wipers, the usual yearly once over I do every fall. They came back with an estimate for $430 for some undercarriage repairs, luckily they didn't have the parts and couldn't get them right a way so I had them do the maintenance and to call me when the parts came in. They replaced the wipers with regular wipers instead of winter wipers and couldn't produce the other pair when I told them to put them back on as I didn't want regular wipers for the winter. The charged me over $100 and could provide no parts showing the things they replaced needed replacing. When I took it to another mechanic for an estimate on the suspension problems - they couldn't find anything wrong and said the car was in great shape and didn't need anything done. I would not go there anymore.
