I always went to the BMW dealership before moving here, so
that's what I did when I came to Chicago, but my experience
at the Chicago dealership was terrible, so I tried this
place after reading the Yelp reviews. The service manager at
Midwest Performance Cars asked me to bring the inspection
sheet that the dealership gave me, which was for about
$7,000 of work the dealership told me I needed.
Midwest Performance Cars looked at my car and gave me their
inspection sheet which had somewhat different results. The
service manager took me back into the shop area and showed
me everything he was talking about on my car while it was
lifted up in the air, and explained it all to me. I felt
very secure that they knew what they were doing and wanted
me to understand everything. He probably spent about twenty
minutes showing me what needed to be done and answering my
questions. I didn't get the feeling he was trying to sell
things to me, and he was very straightforward. He also
didn't mind the fact that I asked a lot of questions.
I ended up spending about $3,000 and got my car back the
next day. They washed it, too. Good follow up calls. My car
feels like new. I highly recommend this place.
Also, they gave me a ride to work when I dropped off my car.
That was really nice because it was very cold that day.

I wish I could give these guys a glowing review....but unfortunately cannot. Taking in my 2009 Benz for a quoted 2-day engine job (plugs, some gaskets), and it's nearly 2 weeks now with them using all sorts of excuses about why the car isn't ready.
The first call or two I appreciated their courtesy. The following two or three kind of annoyed me because they started to boarder on the "so this is how you run your business" thought line. And now after the fifth, I'm pissed. I can't speak to the quality of service yet. I've seen the bill: it's of course not as much as the dealership, though it's also certainly not as inexpensive as an indie. Nevertheless, it's fairly straightforward work that in my book, speaks volumes about the shop when they just can't deliver as promised, time and again, and can't quite get their story straight. Hopefully the work is good, but if you don't like guessing games, like to know when you're getting your car back, and have that "feel good" while your car is in the hands of someone else, then Midwest Performance Cars is not for you.

I was very pleased with the work that Midwest performed on my Porsche. I have a 1988 Porsche 911 turbo, and it is difficult to find a competent mechanic that I feel I can trust. Midwest was recommended in several online forums and I saw very good reviews on other sites so I brought my car in for an oil change and general look-over just to start. They were efficient, fair-priced, and they REALLY know their way around Porsches, both air-cooled and newer. (They had an unusually large number of Cayennes in their shop while I was there.) I had brakes done on my second visit, and it was another good experience. I would recommend Midwest to any Porsche drivers.
