Jim Neff is an incredibly competent mechanic. The first time I brought my car to him, I had been told by the Dodge dealership that the flex plate in my '93 intrepid was cracked and that it would cost $500 to fix. The Dodge dealership charged me $60 to tell me that. I then took my car to Jim at All Seasons Auto. He told me that it wasn't the flex plate at all, but that it was a bad starter (you think Dodge would have been able to figure that out). He fixed it quite cheaply and honestly. Since then, I always bring my car to Jim and he fixes it quickly and reasonably. Usually, after he does his inspection, he will tell me what "could" be fixed on the car. I then ask him what he would fix if it were his car and he tells me that and offers me the option of choosing what to fix. He is an all-around stand up guy. Highly recommended.

As a long-time resident of North Liberty, I have wanted to find a shop I could trust here in town, rather than Iowa City or Cedar Rapids. There are other places in North Liberty that I would recommend also, but this place heads the list. The mechanics employed here are people with many years of experience that I have known from other shops, going back many years. I work on my own vehicles and only farm out what I can't or don't have the time to do. Therefore, this recommendation for All Seasons Automotive comes from someone with decent mechanical knowledge. The owner, Jim Neff, has been in the industry for over 20 years, and is very customer-friendly and service oriented. They specialize in import repair. Even though, I have just begun to do business with All Season Automotive, I know enough about them to take the time to recommend them on Here is their website address:

This is an update to a previous recommendation. I am an unbiased customer, simply doing what I can to get the word out about good, trustworthy mechanics in our area. In the last month I have had both of our vehicles repaired at All Seasons Automotive. Everything I said in my previous notes from two years ago still stands. I gave a "No Response" To They respond well when they screw something up: because they have never screwed anything up of ours. After they have worked on your vehicle, they will make you aware of any needs or shortcomings your vehicle has that they observed during their inspection. They do NOT push additional services and/or work on their customers, just simply make you aware of them. I still do a lot of my own work on our vehicles. When there are things that need to be done that I don't want to do or do not have the expertise to do, I don't even shop around any more. All Seasons Automotive is a fair, experienced, trustworthy place to do business with.

I used this shop to inspect a VW Eurovan weekender that was for sale through a dealer in Iowa City (I am in the Twin Cities, MN). They gave me a very, very thorough inspection and pointed out many things that the dealer had not mentioned. They were very friendly over the phone and even remembered my name from a previous call. I recommend them strongly!
