My '77 Buick LeSabre transmission, with 130K+ miles since overhaul, quit up-shifting to DRIVE. Two transmission shops told me that it needed an overhaul ASAP for circa $650. THE TRANSMISSION & MUFFLER SHOP, 69 GREEN STREET, replaced a vacuum hose for $15 total, parts & labor, and advised that I get the transmission overhauled before winter. I reported this shop to the Better Business Bureau as a better business.

I'd turned the 5 spd in my truck to metal filings. They replaced it with a used one for the quoted price. 8 months later it was dripping oil, and they resealed it at no charge. While they had it in for the reseal, I asked them to change the clutch while they had it off (I was teaching my daughter to drive, and I knew it had been getting abuse). They said it was fine and that I didn't need it changed. 6 months later my kid had it slipping like it was made from banana peels. They put in the new clutch for price of the parts. They towed it in for free too. I love these guys. They also put a new transmission in a Hyundai for me, and done adjustments to a Honda, and muffler work. Always at or under the quoted price.
