The owner, Rick Sherrod, has been working on Volkswagens from an early age. He started in his father's garage. Essentially, he has "grown up" among VW's and genuinely loves to work on them and drive them. He opened his current garage location in July 2005. It is small but very clean. What impressed me the most was his apparent honesty and love for his job. He went out of his way to explain everything he had done as part of the expensive 105K maintenance on my 2000 VW Passat SW. Out of his own initiative, he had all the parts that he took out laid out for me and explained what was wrong with each one. His work was very reasonably priced; probably around 50% of what it would have cost me at the VW dealer. I'm very happy that there is finally an alternative to the VW dealership. Up to now, they were the only (and expensive) VW shop in Macon.

I was ready to sell my 1993 Cabriolet because it was not reliable and no one could find out what was wrong with it ( I tried several shops and paid for a few tune ups and repairs that did nothing). It only had 60,000 miles on it so I thought I'd try one more place and drove it almost an hour to go to VW Central in Macon. They are awesome! Fixed it the first time very reasonably and it runs smooth and great now. They really know VWs. I will drive my car that distance everytime now. I love my car now that it runs great and enjoy driving it.

I have a 89 VW Westfalia which needed all the weather stripping around the front door windows replaced. In Feb 08, Rick ordered factory parts and installed them flawlessly. They look as if they are new. In Nov 08, I had a small oil leak under the engine. The $28 transmission seal needed replaced, but it takes lots of labor to drop the engine. Another mechanic said I could purchase a lot of oil for the cost of replacing the seal. Rick replaced it and put in a new clutch all very reasonably priced. They are not open on Saturdays but other than that, VDUB Central did good work. Incidentally, after the work, he asked if he could buy my Westfalia. I plan to drive it forever.
