I used to live practically across the street, so I lucked into using this shop. Now I'll drive from Citrus Park to have them do anything much more than an oil change. After 12 years, it's still the same guys there, doing a great job. They're often pretty busy and sometimes charge a little more than some places, but they're honest and get things right. Twice I've called them from another shop after being fed a line of B.S. about repairs and they've made it right. Their walls have multiple letters from "8 on Your Side" and other consumer television shows, thanking them for making things right for someone that was screwed by another mechanic.

My parents have been going to see Joe and Les for about 20 years and go nowhere else, even for Dad's Toyota Prius, which poses no problem for the shop. Joe and Les have great senses of humor, and always treat their customers well. I often will drive 12 miles from south Tampa to have them work on my car. Years ago, when my wife received exaggerated service estimates from a leading chain, these guys fixed what was actually wrong with the car, saving her around $400. They have driven my mother home from the shop, and have bought used cars from both me and my father for fair prices. There is no shop that I can recommend more highly.

I needed an honest mechanic to inspect a used car I was considering buying. The Automotive Center of Temple Terrace was highly-rated here, so I called them and told Les what I needed. He was very helpful on the phone, and said he wouldn't charge me for an inspection. I brought the car to him on a busy Saturday, and he put the car on the lift and inspected it thoroughly. He took time to explain what he was looking for and what he found, and determined that the car was a good one. True to his word, he didn't charge me for the inspection. Then, he asked me how much the dealer wanted for the car, looked up the wholesale value, and gave me a ballpark price range. He told me what I had to pay for (tax, tag, and title) and what the dealer would keep (everything else), and gave me some advice on negotiating. I ended up buying the car, and Les' advice, alone, saved me $200. I'd take any car there in a heartbeat.

Like everyone else, I hate it when I don't know how something works or what it will take to get it fixed. Here is one area in which the guys at The Automotive Center excel when it comes to customer service. They are willing to take whatever time is necessary to be sure that any issue with my car has been has been thoroughly explained and all charges reviewed. And they can do this because everyone at the shop is compensated by salary and not commission or flat rate like the majority of franchises. There is no motivation to either sell or promote anything that is not necessary for repairs or maintenance. In fact whenever I ask about the need for particular service work they always direct me to the owner's manual they refer to as the 'bible' for the car. This casual yet professional approach has always left me feeling that I've gotten added value for every dollar spent. It won't take you long before you're going to feel just like one of the family here.
