I have never had a car stay at Jake's more than one day. Bring it in in the morning (Jake will usually give you a ride to work) and pick it up in the afternoon. I once brought a car into Jake's, thinking that the brakes were completly shot - they charged by $4 to adjust them and told me to come back in a year.

Jake had a customer who had her brakes replaced and drove to Miami, only to have her brakes fail. She had them repaired in Miami and returned to Jake's to have him check them out again. After determining that they had been properly repaired, he wrote a check for the repairs the Miami brake shop charged her. Jake has also been an invaluable resource for me. He has always given me the names of other specialists who can do the work he does not do, and I have never been burned.

I may worry when other parts of my car break, but if it's the brakes that need work, I head to Jake's. What a wonderful world this would be if everyone did such good work! He stands behind his work.

I can't say enough good things about Jake's Brakes. Many are the times that we have brought our cars there with the brakes making noise, or if it had been a while since we had work completed on the brakes. They could easily have told me that I needed a brake job because they can read where it says "sucker" on my forehead. Fortunately, since many of the miles my wife and I put on the cars are highway ones, we have gotten responses from Jake and his staff that we still had months to a year on the front and rear brakes. A couple of times, once with one of our cars and once with a niece's car, we had brake work done in other places because it was a weekend or around a shop holiday. We regretted it both times, one of the two having to bring the car to Jake's to have them do it right. We have friends who moved away to Atlanta several years ago. For the first few years they would not get brake work done until they were down for a visit and could get to Jake's. Thanks for the friendly, honest and great service.

I was getting ready to sell a Buick Century and took it in for brake work. When I went to pick up the car, I happened to mention that I was selling the car. The counterman told me to be sure and give the receipt to the new owner since the 12 month warranty was transferrable. Wow, did that surprise me. Excellent workmanship, strong commitment to communtity and one of the most beautiful oak trees in Tallahassee make Jake's Brakes a rare find. At Jakes, the term "shade-tree" mechanic is not a bad thing! After two trips, I'll be a life long customer.

I have taken probably 7 0r 8 vehicles to Jake over at least the past 20 years, maybe longer. I have always left satisfied both with the quality of work and the price. On several occasions he could have done a complete brake job but instead told me that an adjustment was all that was necessary and to come back in a year or so when I really needed brake work. He is very honest and I highly recommend Jake's Brakes.

This is the only place anyone in my family in Tallahassee will ever take their vehicles for brake repairs. They are completely reliable and honest. Their prices are more than reasonable; I should know! I owned a 1978 AMC Gremlin that apparently had a horrible brake design that required frequent repairs. They actually repaired them at no charge at one point. I also took them my Mazda Protege and received the same great service. Great place!

When the rear axle seal leaked, dumping fluid onto my brakes (a problem that was only noticeable when it rained and the brakes alternately locked up or utterly failed to engage), Jake correctly diagnosed and repaired the problem. When it failed again several months later, he fixed it again for free. When it failed again after another couple of months, he again fixed it for free, after warning me that this problem seemed to be a flaw with this type of car and that he'd have to charge me if it failed a fourth time. Lucky me, the fourth repair seemed to do it. I'll never take a car elsewhere because Jake thinks about, cares about, and remembers his customers. His positive attitude is so absolute that he attracts and retains like-minded employees.

I moved to Tallhassee in 1973 and have been going to Jake's Brakes since that time. Jake has always been the most fair, competent, and honest mechanic I've ever taken my car to. Often I thought I had a brake problem and he would check it out, make a small adjustment, and send me on my way without charge. When I have needed brake work he and his staff have always fixed my problem promptly for a fair price. What I like most about him is that he is honest and never has tried to get me to have him do unnecessary repairs. He not only does brake work but he also does front end work, but you have to ask him specifically about that because he doesn't want the customer thinking that he "found" a front end problem just to make extra money. I highly recommend him. He's done excellent work for me for 40 years.

The most honest mechanic I have ever met. Period. I would be a fool to take my car anywhere else for brake work. I too have had the experience of a $0 repair with a recommendation to come back in 12 months when I could easily have been sold a full 4-wheel brake job. I only wish he worked on ALL the systems in a car.
