My daughter goes to school in St. Petersburg and has her Jeep with her. I didn't know anyone there when her car needed repairs. She got a ridiculous quote from the Jeep dealer which is when I used this web site to pick Reliable Auto Repair based on the testimonials here. I now want to add my comments. Bob was amazing. Thoroughly explained his diagnosis, fixed it in a timely fashion, and could not have been more accomodating. While the Jeep dealer wanted to totally replace something for $800, Bob just replaced some of the parts for $150, for the same net effect. I can unequivocally recommend this garage to anyone in the St. Pete area. Interestingly, he had no idea he was mentioned on this web site. When I told him how I found out about his garage, he was somewhat incredulous. Just a great guy running what seems to be an honest business.

I went to Reliable with a list of items from the
manufacturers recommended 30000 mile service and a few
additional items, 1) examine brake wear and provide
recommendation, 2) replace antifreeze, 3) service a/c, 4)
check clutch engagement shuttering problem.
Bob took a look at my tires and immediately recommended a
front-end alignment. He doesn't do alignments but
recommended a couple of local shops that he trusted would
do a good alignment. I laughed out loud on hearing how
low the bill was. He reported the antifreeze coolant was
clear and didn't need replacing; reported the brakes had
almost no wear (on a truck with 40000 miles); gave me good
advice about the clutch and handed over my truck on time.

Bob always listens carefully to your explanation and sounds
of the problems. calls others over to hear customer make
sounds if necessary. They diagnose the problem before doing
any work and let the customer know before hand the actual
problem found and cost and time to do repairs. Costs are
much lower than dealers because of lower overhead. Bob and
crew are always happy to see me and other customers no
matter how busy they are at that moment.
I recommend "Reliable Bobaloo" to anyone with car problems
old cars and new models alike. Bob is like taking your car
to the "Car Talk" show in many ways. His diagnosis are
usually right, just from customers discriptions and sounds.

Bob, Dan, and other techs are just terrific. We have had our business trucks (Ford,Dodge Sprinter),personal cars (Toyota,Honda, Lexus), and those of our employees (Hyundai and more) repaired fairly, promptly, and inexpensively for nearly 20 years. Sometimes they just can't find the problem and then usually don't charge. They also love warm, really dark chocolate brownies w/pecans.

I have been taking cars to Bob for over 20 years. The most honest and knowledgeable mechanic you could ever have. I have referred over 25 other people to Reliable Auto and the feedback is incredibly good. Do yourself a favor and take the worry out of your car repair and maintenance needs by taking your car here.
