I have an 2004 Prius that the drive battery pack failed after 160,000 miles. I had done research and knew that it should be about $3000 for parts and labor. They gave me an estimate by phone of that price. When they looked at the car there, the price climbed to over $5000. I could not get a written estimate out of them for the differences. But they said that an additional controller was reporting an error and evidently they were not going to deduct the trade in value of the old battery pack (about $1000). My regular dealer did it for $3000 and I've had no problems since. http://www.mnn.com/green-tech/transportation/blogs/a-primer-on-replacing-the-prius-pack
