I used Richard's services based on the recommendation of a friend/co-worker -- although I made it a point not to say this. In my particular case I had an issue with my steering. I took it in and Richard looked at the issue. He told me that it had to do with fluid in the rack-and-pinion area. I *could* get it replaced for about $800, he said, but the issue would likely resolve itself in a short amount of time. So he charged me $20 for the labor of inspecting the vehicle. He could've gotten $800 from me but instead got $20.

My family has been taking all our cars to Richard for over 20 years. He is honest and up front with you and gets the job done quickly. If something is not worth fixing, he will tell you that, plain and simple. If you just want to get it running again and not in perfect condition, he is fine with that too. He is not exactly "Mr. Personality" and won't sit around and chat with you. That never bothered me, he is all business and his charges are reasonable. An honest mechanic is a rare find but Richard is one. I send everyone I know to him....

I was skeptical of taking my beloved Oldsmobile to a stranger, but I knew I couldn't fix her myself. I found Richard's Automotive on here, and I'll be a repeat customer! Richard found what was wrong, told me the cost, and even called the scrap dealers for me to part her out (the repair would've been more than I paid for her). Totally honest and totally fair.

We are brand new to the J-ville area, and one of the worst parts about moving is finding a good, honest mechanic - especially when you own 4 cars, each with over 100K miles on them. Richard is truly a gem. He's not only a great mechanic, he's also downright refreshingly honest. You can tell he approaches each job with the mindset of fixing the problem the best way for the customer (gives you options and spells out the pros and cons for each). We have taken all four of our cars to him over the last 8 months, and he has saved us hundreds in repairs not only through competitive pricing, but also advising us when he thought a repair was unnecessary given our needs.
