I own two Saabs and I was very unhappy with the service department at Saab of Greenwich (same owners as Saab of Westport). Eventually, somebody told me about Kiel Evans at European Auto Center. Kiel used to work for Saab of Westport/Greenwich and he is fully trained on Saabs. More importantly, he is incredibly honest, nice, knowledgeable, and consistently less expensive than the dealership. If you own a Saab, Kiel should be your mechanic.

Keal Evans, the owner and chief mechanic at European Auto Center loves cars. I mean, he really loves cars: working on them, talking about them, explaining things about them. You get the picture. Keal is a certified master mechanic for Saab But he is no slouch when it comes to VW, BMW, Benz or Volvo. I works on my Volvo wagon and VW Golf. Work ranges from the routine oil+filter to complete brake jobs, suspension work and engine work. Keal takes the time to explain the job at hand in detail, and will make recommendations on priorities and parts in order to save money. Oh, and one last detail that I think really reflects his attitude: when I pick up my car, it is always washed and vacuumed gratis.

My car wasn't starting and I didn't know why. I drove into one garage and was turned away due to the make of my vehicle, but was referred to this garage. I drove in and immediately felt at home. I am new to the area and was concerned about possibly being ripped off - because I am female and my car is 10 years old. Not only did I have fun with the owner and the mechanics, they said that they didn't want me to throw away money needlessly by putting in parts that they didn't think were needed. Right then they had a customer for life. It was a wonderful, inexpensive visit to correct the car's ills.

European Auto has consistently beat the price of my dealer (Saab of Westport/Greenwich) by about half. They always explain what needs to be done. They have, on more than one occassion, discouraged me from having them do unneeded work. They have referred me to other shops when they think I will get a better price (alignment). They treat my girlfriend in the same manner as they treat me. It is easy to get an appointment. I have had nothing but good experiences with European Auto.

Good guys - they only do the work that needs to be done, and they do it right.

I needed a ton of work done on my car.. they were really up front with what had to be done, what should be, and what could wait. They took a couple days longer than I would have liked but gave me a deal on everything since I got quite a bit done. Totally reasonable and honest mechanics.

These guys are great - they have often done small maintainance at no charge (changing a headlight, coolant, etc), and they repaired my window under quote in an afternoon. They always explain what needs to be done and why and will direct you to other businesses that are also trustworthy (car detailing, tires, etc)

Kael has moved the shop to Norwalk and now has three people, all of whom are great, working on the cars. We have gone in with emergencies and some other planned visits. When I went there with a messed up wiper action (a piston on a 1-blade system), he fixed it on the spot and showed me how to do it myself if it happens again. I think they have to move the shop again, due to a large development going in, so we hope they are not further away.

If they can't or won't work on a car they recommend someone who can, who is reputable. Extremely nice guys.
