New Milford Volkswagen is the oldest continually run VW dealer in the US. I have done business with them since the mid-'80's. I have purchased five cars from them and have extensively used their service dept. By far the very best dealer service I have ever experienced. There is a reason this dealer has been in business so long. They know their product and treat the customer like family. In the day of mega multi-brand franchises, it's refreshing to find a one brand dealer that really knows their product which is very important especially with the VW brand. The only downside is that their labor rate is high, but they do deliver high value to the customer.

They correctly diagnosed the problem with my Jetta in 20 min. after the other area dealer couldn't figure it out - after two visits and about 15 hours. They got me a loaner and got it fixed right, no problems since. I've been going back ever since and they've been great.

Bought a new 2005 Passat leftover in 2006 form New Milford VW. Within a couple of months a spark coil caught on fire (I'm now sorry that I put the fire out.) It took them more than week to fix the car. A year or so later the transmission failed. VW replaced it under warranty. At this point my wife would no longer drive the car. We bought her a new car (another make), and I took the Passat. A couple of months later the transmission failed again. They agreed to again replace it under warranty. The Service Manager told me (his words exactly): "We'll replace the transmission again but it failed because of an electrical problem. We WILL NOT repair the electrical problem under warranty." I was pretty steamed up but I told them to replace the transmission. Apparently there were two different transmissions available for this 4-Motion model - they ordered the wrong transmission. About 2 weeks later I traded the car for a Ford. I really should have called in VW's Zone Manager in order to mediate the problem but I just chose to wash my hands of the problem and I got rid of it. The words of the Service Manager will always stick in my head - the jerk!
