Moodus Auto is a small town auto repair shop where the
owners are also the mechanics. They are honest, reliable
and can repair any car I have driven or dragged in. I
have had them give me a break on repairs because I had
spent so much on another car's repairs. More than once
they have discouraged me from having work done that I
requested, because they felt it would not be worth the
money at the time. For instance, I brought my very funky
very old truck in because it did not pass emissions.
Another mechanic had asked $700 to fix it. Their advice
was to not spend the $700 to get it to pass, but to leave
it sit for a year until it becomes exempt from testing. I
only drive the truck a mile to the town dump a couple of
times a month and to plow snow from my driveway, so no
problem. Time and time again they have given me advice
like this that saves me money and make sense in terms of
car care. Most other mechanics I have known are only to
happy to take your money and repair your car whether it
really needs it or not.

These guys are local. They've been around for along time.
My first experience with them was for a blown
transmission in a 1988 Isuzu Trooper. This was in
2000.They got a rebuilt one and put it in in 2 days from
the time I had it towed to them. A few months later I
thought I heard the same noises again. I brought it in ,
they said it probably wasn't the transmission, but they
would chechk it out. It turned out to be the differential
was low on fluid. They filled for no charge. I've been
there a few more times and thet always get the work done
within 48 hours.

I just had brakes done at Moodus Auto; they were quick, and the price was totally reasonable. I'd recommend them to anyone!
