I have a 91 Acura Legend I bought new. I love it yet have known that a day was coming when I would have to give it up. When I failed my smog test I needed someone to tell me what was needed to bring it up to code. I went to the CarTalk sight and found Santa Monica Motors. They told me that for $97.50 they would check it for me and then I could decide. After their evaluation they told me that a new/rebuilt engine would be needed to pass the smog test. They estimated cost and explained the details. I decided that its time to replace the car. When I went in to pick it up I expected to pay $97.50. THEY CHARGED ME NOTHING. I am impressed and will definitely use them in the future.

This is a great, independent, Honda Shop. You should take your Honda to this shop ONLY on the West Side of LA.

Dave no longer there; but Jim still there. New rep gives me advice if I drop in and ask. Still same mechanics. Honda Acuras only. After Honda totaled and not liking 95's trunk setup; Regrettably bought Toyota so had to give up useing them to my regret as had to go somewhere elsec for ssrviv=ce When my honda was at its warranty expiration Dave suggested I take it to Honda for service so any warranty relaterd problems would be fixed free. When I went in near closing after car problem duting rainstorm. I had AAA tow me there. They found wet or bad part and replaced free of charge. Sent niece there. Her father thought it wads brake leak etc. They told her what problem was. Shop that did oil change meassed up spo told hert to return there. no chzrge. She had repair shop fix and i/o paying she had them fix free of chrge. Had to get new car and chose Toyota.Went there with question as distrusted dealer service rep. They told me to save my money and how dealer was addding unnecessary work. After buying Toyota they recommended another independent shop Toyta/Mazda. Shop used parts from Japan tht were oem for Toyota. Whenever had question or problem, that they didn't repair always recommended shop they used. Air condition problem shop they sent me to found problem and aftr temperature test said save money bothing wrong yet re replacing refigerant. Lasted 4 more years until car totaled.

previously submitted under Santa Monics Motors Fixed wet car at closing replaced part no charge Sent to Dealer so could take advantage of expiring warranty Told niece problem wasn't brake fluid etc. but oil change incorrectly done. no charge she got oil place to fix free per their advice Now Dave gone but replacement just as helpful. Have Toyota and he'll answer rare question re Dealer unneeded service suggestion. Regret no longer have Honda nor Acura so can't go for service.

They have never screwed up on me, so I don't know how they'd handle it, but I'm very confident that Bill and Jim would be great about any screw up. They're terrific. They put my car up on the rack when I dropped in( 24 hours after I'd told them I'd be there) to tell them had a dream that something fell off from under my car while driving on the freeway. Sure 'nuff, the entire length of the exhaust pipe was loose. They, knowing my current financial position, (prone) said they couldn't get the new parts for what another shop would charge to replace the whole thing. Bill wrote out the phone number and gave it to me while Jim told me what to tell my car-challenged friend to do about her new Mitsubishi that needs a new transmission after only 30,000 miles. Mind you, this was done in an efficient manner, no shuffling about goes on here, but they give service above and beyond the call of duty. Just for the record my '85 Honda SEi has over 316,000 miles on it and the exhaust pipe was original. These guys take great care of my car and I wouldn't hesitate to give them a five star rating anytime.

Awesome... it turned out I needed the alternator and battery replaced. Because I had purchased the battery elsewhere and still had a credit on that battery, they lent me their battery until I could get the replacement, THEN replaced their loaner with my new battery at no charge. They've moved just down the street to 2318 Pico Blvd. Talk to Karim!

I have been taking various cars to SM Motors for almost 30 years. In recent years, Karim has taken over for his father. The service, if anything, is even better. They are honest, competent, and they keep their word. Repairs are on time. Several good mechanics, especially Eloy. They have made only one mistake in all the years, which they admitted and immediately corrected at no cost to me. I feel fortunate that my late father first took me there and said, "Stick with these guys."
