During the past year (2010) Jacoby Auto has done quite a lot of work for me, including replacing the engine on an older vehicle, and they have demonstrated a high level of honesty and professionalism. For example, after installing a new GM crate engine, they were very conscientious in resolving some issues related to engine cooling and performance. In addition, there was a oil leak from the new engine, and GM initially disputed this, and declined to correct the problem under the warranty. However, Ron persisted, and convinced GM that there was, indeed, a leak from the main bearing seal, and ultimately, GM corrected the problem. Under these circumstances, many (most?) mechanics would have just said "Oh, they all do that." (And for this vintage of vehicle, that could be defensible.) As issues arose, Ron and Henry advised me promptly, and were completely open to discussing and investigating alternatives. I was also very impressed that a month or so after the engine change, Henry called me to insure that everything was satisfactory, and told me to not hesitate to come back if I had any concerns. Because of these experiences, I feel comfortable in recommending Ron, Brian and Henry. By the way, if you go there, don't be put off by the modest facilities. The shops in this auto center are not palatial, but I got excellent service there.

Ron Jacoby continues to be the gold standard of automotive repair excellence re: knowledge, competence, training, and customer service. He, his right hand man, Brian, and front office man, Henry, consistently deliver at the highest level of integrity. Repair jobs large or small receive the same attention. They take the time to explain the problem, discuss the options and cost with you, and how to next proceed. Instead of unnecessary and costly repairs, they apprise you of anything that may need future attention down the road like worn brakes, rotors, etc. I call that SERVICE!

Ron & Brian remain the gold standard of mechanical knowledge, competence, and integrity. I am once again forwarding their contact info to a work colleague as their customer service is stellar. I was just in for an oil change last week because I know that Ron & Brian will check the levels on EVERYTHING as well as make note of any possible safety or other automotive issues and discuss w/ me. At the time of this recent oil change Ron called to let me know I had very little wear left on my front brakes. I appreciate this kind of safety heads-up, asked for his recommendation, and had my front brakes replaced. I was still able to pick up the car same day after work! They have also performed the 30/60/90K maintenance on my car and I trust them implicitly.

Great guy, Ron. We were wanting to buy a Toyota Camry from Craig's List and brought him a car for a pre-sale inspection. He quickly saw it had been in an accident and had a myriad of problems. He wrote it all up and was very thorough and patient with us as the owner squirmed. We live almost an hour away from him but, if it were convenient, would trust him in a heartbeat to work on either of our Toyota cars. We wound up finding a wonderful Corolla in Fremont, CA.

Just happened to be on this site for some reason and noticed there weren't any current reviews. Ron is still awesome, and his shop is still humble, so no change there. :-) We've taken multiple types of cars to Ron: Mazda, Honda, Pontiac, etc. I'll check the Honda box, 'cause that's our oldest, current car. I've listed my review as "Biased customer" because my sweetie and I have been using Ron's services for almost 18 years now and figure after all that time we might be biased. Everyone we've sent to Ron has been happy, too.
