Honesty. Integrity. Competence. Courteousness. What more do you want? OK, well, they happen to very nice warm people as well. In San Francisco, this type of service is pretty much an anachronism. Claudio, who now has been joined by his son, have all the best of "old world" sensibilities. I have been patronizing Claudio for over 20 years, with a number of different cars, from old eyesore beaters in the lean times to a brand new Volvo to my 24 year old Caddy. Always the same courteous, competent service. They do little things (e.g. lube hinges, tighten up loose nuts) and don't even tell me they've done them, much less charge me for them! I'll notice a fews days later that, hey, that door doesn't squak anymore, and find all the doors, trunk and hood newly lubricated. 'Nuff said.

Claudio Hrvatin is a very courteous diligent and intelligent workman. His son is continuing this tradition. I would highly recommend this man to FEMALE customers, as he is completely friendly honest and respectful even to novices such as myself.I cannot recommend his shop highly enough. I hesitated to write this recommendation because I wanted his services all to myself, but I have decided that this is selfish. He does work on American cars, but he is brilliant on the more difficult European makes. He takes very good care of my old 1982 Volvo. I noticed less than perfect notes on accessiblity. The shop is near the intersection of Silver and Mission and is served by several bus lines: the 44, the 52, and all the various Mission lines. It is also a 10 minute walk from the Glen Park BART station. its not as accesible from the haight as it is from two blocks away, but just because its not in your neighborhood doesnt make it inaccessible.

Claudio and his son, Renzo, run the best car repair shop I have ever used. They and their staff are attentive, competent and concerned. They go out of their way to fix the problem right, the first time, at a fair cost. They even repair little problems at no charge. And on top of it all, they wash the windows and tidy up the car! Claudio has a real concern for safety and will always level with me. He always lets me decide when to do elective repairs. He is a real gentleman in an age that can use a little old- fahsioned manners and courtesy. Since I have brought our cars to Claudio 10 years ago, they have never run better. I have complete peace of mind when I get behind the wheel - - thanks Claudio!

I have a vintage VW bus and have been looking for a competent mechanic since my previous one retired. I have spent several years in the city looking for a someone.I looked up Car Tal's Mechanic X Files and found Claudio's just a few blocks from my house. He and his small personal stall have corredted others inabilities and we have moved on.

Claudio is an expert mechanic. He is always friendly, fits me in and solves the problem quickly. I think half the times I have gone to him he has solved the problem for free. He's great! I recommend him to all of my friends.

I stopped in there one morning after dropping my son off at school, because for some reason I couldn't shift my car into first. They put something back in alignment, didn't charge me anything, and had me on my way to work within 20 minutes. Other times, when they were doing paid work, they did something extra while they were at it like replacing a taillight bulb that had burnt out. I have seldom worked with a mechanic I can recommend so unreservedly.
