Ted is (I believe) a Polish immigrant, and although his English is broken he goes to great pains to explain what is wrong with your car. Whenever possible, he always presents options for repair, if money is an issue. He is extremely knowledgable about cars, and his work was impeccable. I went to him for several years before I found another mechanic that was closer to my work place. As a regular customer, I did get preferential/"express" treatment. Only drawback was that sometimes the work was not done at the promised time, and I had to leave my car overnight.

I found out about T. K. Imports Auto Repair on this site. I found Ted and Kenny both to be highly competent, honest and trustworthy. I took my 1999 Volvo in for some minor work which was done in a timely fashion. I'll admit that I had also called two other establishments for pricing. Kenny was the first I talked to and had the best price. Before leaving the shop, Kenny noticed that one of my rear license plate bulbs was burned out (something I have meant to change myself) and quickly replaced it at no charge. I told Kenny before I left that I would only come to them for service in the future.

There are a few times in life when you really need help, and someone comes to your aid. TK Automotive did that for us. Our son is in school in San Diego, and discovered that the Volvo we sent him with had suddenly lost all its oil. He stopped the car and called us. I found TK through this site, and called them. They helped us get a tow to there shop and called me an hour later with the diagnosis, a list of parts that would be needed, and the projected cost of labor, all of which was very fair and clear. They worked through the weekend, and had us back on the road after replacing the seals, clearing the blocked PCV valve (the cause of all our woe) and replacing the timing belt, which had to be removed to get to everything. The care runs great, no oil leak, and we are very, very happy. We'll be using the shop for all our maintenance needs for as long as we're in the area.

The first time Ted repaired my car, it was at the recommendation of a relative who has a very old car that Ted has managed to keep running for her.My brakes were grinding and felt very soft, as in I was afraid Iwouldn't be able to stop if I had to slam them on. He looked at them, told me the front brakes needed to be replaced and the rotors might need to be turned. It turned out that the rotors didn't needto be turned and he charged me less than he had quoted as he said it took him less time to do than he had thought it would. He also told me how much I had left on my rear breaks. It took him less than 2 hours to get the work done. I haven't and wouldn't take any vehicle to anyone else. He and Kenny, his other mechanic, have been working on my sister's car, my aunt's and my mom's cars and the work is always done right. They are both honest and just plain great mechanics. The price is fair and Ted bends over backwards to do whatever he can to get your car running again...and if it's not worth it, he will tell you that too. I have lost count of the number of people I have steered his way.
