This is a female owned business. Patricia, the owner, is very accomodating and thoroughly explains the repairs needed - often times with a bit of humor if the news is bad. I recently moved from the Poway area to North Park - a good half hour drive away and I will continue to take my car to Poway Import Car Specialist - NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH POWAY IMPORTS ON POWAY ROAD!!! The garage is clean - first time I've seen a clean garage - and both Patricia and Scott Wilson have gone out of their way to accomodate me and my car. Being a 1977 Volkswagen owner and a woman, I've had my share of bad service and unecessary repairs, fortunately I feel as though those days are over.

The staff at Poway Import car Specialist are terrific. Patricia and Scott are great prople and will treat you right. They are very honest and will always provide you with all of the available repair options. Also don't be put off by the name of the shop. They certainly will work on your Porsche if you have one, but they will do just as good a job on your Chevy or Ford and they wont make you feel like a second class citizen like some of the other high-end shops do. The repair prices are better than other shops who don't do near the quality of work that they do. And since this site doesn't list their address, they are at: 13502 Pomerado Rd., Poway (858)486-3206

I had several good experiences with these guys. The
repairs were completed a bit ahead of their promised
date/time (I had a pretty big job for them, replace timing
belt, water pump, starter, oil change.) They called me
within a few hours of when I dropped it off to let me know
that one of my engine mounts was broken. I had no surprise
when it was time to pay the bill.
I had this work done about 2 months ago and my '91 Accord
has a new lease on life... it's getting close to 30/mi gal
on freeway driving again, no leaks, clear oil, and plenty
of pep. Not bad for an older car with 155K miles.
I recommend them.

I have taken my cars to Poway Import Car Specialists for
years and they always take care of my car issues. Scott
is very friendly and fair and takes the time to explain
the situation. I'm thankful I was referred to them years
ago and know you will be thankful too. Thanks Scott for
your skill and helpfulness.

This is a friendly, humorous, pleasant place. Clean and competent. I took my 94 Prizm there for its 60k service, a couple of years ago, including timing belt and a lot of other stuff. Expensive, but probably competitive. The mechanic commented on what a great car the Prizm is, and observed that my wife picked me up in a new VW Golf, and grinning, said he loves VW owners, because they bring him much business. I hadn't the heart to tell him how many annoying problems the Prizm had given me, while the 3 Golfs I have owned never had any problems until they were very old.

Hard to find a shop that really knows what they are doing,
are able to explain whats going on, and completes work in
a timely manner. Patricia is a wonderful person to deal
with, and as much as I hate to spend money on my car, if I
have to I would rather give it to her. Poway Import Car
Specialist does all of these extremely well. Not the
cheapest, but been there done that, I learn from my
mistakes.

I took my 99 Sentra to Poway Import Car Specialists twice.
The first time I had been to several other shops and no
one could tell me why my car would fail to start once or
twice a week. At other shops they kept my car all day and
then said they couldn't fix it because they couldn't
replicate the problem. As soon as I took it here and
described the problem, they knew exactly what was wrong
and fixed it that day. I have not had any trouble with it
since. I also took my car to them to get it checked before
I moved away, and they reported that all it needed was a
new battery (which I already knew), rather than fixing
things just to get my money before I left. They are always
friendly and explain things well. I would strongly
recommend them!

My husband, who is semi knowledgeable about cars, and I, are
glad to have found smart and honest mechanics! They can
figure out the problem when other shops can't, and they only
fix what is really broke.
My husband took in the company car, which had a problem that
several other garages could not identify. One garage even
said they needed to repair the engine. Then, after a brief
inspection, the mechanics at Poway Import Car Specialist
said the company car was out of oil. And that was all it
needed. I have had similar experiences with them, where
they figured out the real problem quickly, and it was cheap,
and I was happily surprised with their honesty.
My brother drives from the coast to bring his BMW 323i in to
them, and we bring in our Toyota Sienna and Ford Explorer.
We also have brought in two of these vehicles to them to get
an opinion prior to purchase.
I first found out about them from this website, about 5
years ago, and wanted to write my own follow-up. They are
still good! Sometimes they're really busy and you have to
wait a day to get in, but they have a discount w/ a car
rental agency a mile away and you can drop off your car
after hours.

Scott always seems to go the extra mile to get the job
done. He has always been honest and treats his customers
with respect. I brought one of our cars in for an oil
change and some other engine work. Since the correct
parts weren't in for the repair, Scott let me take my car
back home and didn't expect payment until the ENTIRE job
was done. Never have I heard that before! Thanks Scott!

The owner, Scott Wilson, is one of the best shop repair
owners I have ever met and I am 77 years old. He has never
done work I questioned, asked if I wished a loaner if car
tied up, need arrangements for payment if charge large and
heard same from people I sent there. Will not use parts
from salvage yards, cheap stores and like. A real likable
person who goes out of his way to make you happy and feel
like you want to come back for further work. Changed all
fuel lines on 86 Tropper for $90 as favor and intalled
plugs on 2001 Olds Alero free when I said I could not
reach one in rear. Returned car to home when A/C
compressor went out and he charged it and applied dye to
find leak while we used veh.
