We discovered SVS in 1986 after bad experiences with the
dealership. Ken and Robert kept our 1984 Volvo station
wagon going until it was totalled in 1999 in an accident.
Then they inspected a used 1996 Volvo sedan 850 for us, we
bought it, and they kept it going until 2008 when I
donated the car to our local NPR station and bought a
Toyota Camry Hybrid. I wish Volvo made hybrid cars, but
they don't. My husband likes SVS so much, that he took his
Ford Explorer to them, and now they service his Subaru
Forester. They do a great job even with non-Volvo cars.
Unfotunately they don't have the machinery necessary to
work on my new Toyota, if they did, I wouldn't hesitate to
use them.

I have been going to this shop since 1982--except for a
short shift to a move convenient Volvo shop. Convenience
should not always win out, as this shop did inferior work.
SVS has a loyal following and is a solid, clean, and
friendly shop. Unlike the "other" shop the mechanics are
solid and very long term. I have a lot of faith and trust
in this shop. Although their name implies a restriction of
Volvos they service all cars. Their invoices are well
written, clear, and maintain on their computer. Ask for Ken
when calling.

Very trustworthy shop. We have taken our Volvos there for
years and have a good relationship with them. One time we
were at the Grand Canyon and our check engine light came
on. I called and talked to Ken who told me not to worry -
it was the altitutde and come in to have it looked at when
we were back in town. He was right. Another time they
talked me through taking the front screws of the drip pan
off when the back part of it dropped off and was
dragging.

You gotta love these guys. I have a 1988 Volvo 740 wagon
that I bought new, and have driven more than 223,000 miles.
It still has the original engine and transmission.
Sacramento Volvo Service has kept it humming along
beautifully, and even fixed complicated stuff that had other
shops baffled. I figure they've helped save me a sizeable
fortune in car payments by maintaining my '88 so well, since
I moved back to CA in 1993.
They're nice, friendly, professional, and top-notch at what
they do. Can't say enough good things about them.
