Paul Jr. and Paul Sr. have been working on cars for decades. They are blessed with a combination of expert knowledge and integrity rare among auto mechanics. For example: I went to Paul Jr. because my '83 Audi 5000S kept dying on me abruptly. The 3 other mechanic shops I went to could not diagnose the problem (one said it was electrical, but couldn't identify what part was faulty, the other thought it was the fuel pump, while the other thought it was the idle-speed controller. (I called you guys but you never got back to me!). Paul quickly diagnosed the problem as electrical. He replaced the electrical connections. When that didn't work, he recommended changing the distributor. He shopped around for a used distributor, but couldn't find one. When I did, he installed if for FREE. As further evidence of Paul Jr's integrity, I've also witnessed him chew out his accountant for trying to be creative about tax breaks -- many of which appeared legitimate. European Sports Car Garage has a great reputation around Sacramento, which (I think) has a lot of great mechanics compared to other cities I've lived in.

We originally met Paul Jr. through our '88 Jetta which I have no doubt was demonically posessed. He fixed several things that seemed to go wrong with the VW once it hit 70-80K (everything). He was invariably polite, respectfull to my wife, and informative. His prices were almost always below his estimate which was always reasonable. Only once did he exceed the estimate when a distributor had quoted him the wrong price on a part. When we decided to give up on the Jetta, Jr. recommended items to fix to increase the resale and strategies to get the most out of the car with a good cionscience. We now own a Honda (hooray!) but still take all our business to Jr. Often he will call me after an initial diagnosis to tell me that the repair is something I can do myself and to pick up the car after work for no charge! He will also tellme where to get the parts cheapest, usually through his shop. I would wholeheartedly recommend European to anone with a European or Japanese vehicle.

My wife bought a used Volvo and took it to Paul's garage for service on the recommendation of a friend of ours. At the time, I was a college student and we didn't have a lot of money. Paul was very good about letting me know if he thought the problem was something I could fix myself, or if there was part of it I could do. He has also been excellent about fitting my car in in emergency breakdowns. I have been able to have it towed in first thing in the morning before school, and take a bus back after school, at the end of the day, to pick up my repaired car. He is always friendly and honest. I wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone looking for a great mechanic.

Paul Jr. is very knowledgable about my 2000 BMW 323i. Reasonably priced and honest.

My dad started taking his Mercedes to Paul years ago, then an Opel, and another Mercedes, and so on...he always raved about Paul's work and never took his cars anywhere else. Paul (and his son and their staff) is also patient about looking at that "little noise" that cars seem to develop and either fixing it or explaining why it's normal. Estimates were always accurate and the work always good. I liked the fact that European was near public transportation (easy to leave the car before work and pick it up after).

Paul never upsells, is respectful and informative, and clearly loves cars.
