Tom & Ray-- I own a GM product; the car is now 7 yrs old and has 180K miles on the thing. Mike and his team at Benner have been the best mechanics that I have had the pleasure to work with on any of my cars. In my life time I have owned 2 Chevys, a Buick, a Jeep and an Olds. Just call me a GM girl. Except for a Jeep dealership, my experience with Benner Automotive has been the most professional, knowledgable, honest and fair in their dealings with me. I highly recommend them to any car owner for preventative and acute engine maintenance problems. Katie Kirk

Mike and his crew are the only people I trust to work on my car. I've taken my cars there for over 25 yrs. Many years ago (15 - 20 yrs ago), I took my car to a tire store to have tires rotated, and they told me I needed new brakes and rotors on all wheels. So I took it to Benner Auto. They checked my car and told me I would need brake pads soon, but they were okay. I really believe many shops see a woman and just start adding stuff not really needed. I feel I know more about cars then most women. At 16, I had a '65 Mustang; I did all the work on it: brakes, alternator, plugs, all fluid changes, and anything that need fixing. My father believed if you drive a car, you needed to be able to fix it. (1970's) But on todays cars you really have to trust the shop you take your car to. I trust Benner Auto. I live in Walnut Creek, but will go to Oakland for car work. Best auto shop for women who don't want to be screwed over.

I have taken my car and my family cars to Mike Benner for more than twenty years. Mike and his guys talk straight, don't upsell, and are truly friendly. I took my Highlander to the dealer service department after I bought it for the 30k service and they treated me like an uncle they never liked. My hesitation about recommending Mike is that if they get too busy I would be in trouble. Telegraph Avenue may be a little scary to people who do not live or work in the neighborhood. I have worked nearby since the Loma Prieta earthquake and have had no problem walking to work or back when I drop off a car in the morning. The charges are always fair and well below any dealer's shop.
