Jaguar Purrformance (their pun, not mine) Center has been my repair center for more than 20 years. I have owned Jaguars for more than 40 years (going back to a XK140), and I have experienced all the travails that Jaguar owners meet with in trying to find competent and honest repair shops. I have lived here in Palo Alto for more than 30 years, and in the first ten years went through at least ten shops that claimed to know how to repair and maintain Jaguars, before I found Purrformance Center. Rick Olsen is the owner and chief mechanic, and is a jewel. Enjoy your column immensely. Lots of good common sense information and solutions to problems involving cars. Best regards, Jim Mulvey

For the last 6 years I have had Rick service and repair my S-Type Jaguar. Since Jaguars are quirky cars, there is no way to predict when and where they will act up. Rick has always gone out of his way to make sure my car is taken care of. This type of service is soooo rare! Plus his sense of humor ... he should be giving advice on Car Talk too!!
