Got the recommendation from this site, tried them, and theyre GREAT! Ive taken my truck in for three fairly major repairs / check-ups, and each time theyve done the work necessary, and not done work they thought was unnecessary. They didnt push up the bill when they had a chance. Their prices are not on the cheap side, but they always seem fair. And they fix it the first time! Ask for Jim. And tell him you got the rec online... He doesnt have internet access, so when i told him there were positive reviews on the web, he got a kick out of it.

They only did a smog check for me, but they worked me in to ensure that I was able to get the check done before going out of town. I heard the manager explain to several customers EXACTLY what they were going to do in the way of repairs and recommend less costly repairs to people who expected to pay a lot more. Highly recommended!

I've been a customer of Herb and Red's for four years, and I've had nothing but
good experiences. Jim is communicative, doesn't talk down to you, and is
honest about what work shouldn't wait, and what work can be safely delayed
until I have the money.
His estimates are almost always spot-on, and his mechanics are courteous and
clean.

since my family and i and our growing circle of recommendees are such good customers, they've helped me with little things for free right away that i've been charged for at other garages. jim is also a great source of advice on all things car.

I read the positive reviews and decided to try the shop for
the first time myself. I too had a good initial
experience. Jim was very informative and a straight up
guy. He fully explained everything that was done and only
performed necessary repairs. While the shop is smaller and
only has a few bays, a quick look around shows that they
are organized with everything in its place--a possible
indicator of the quality of work they can do. The price
was very reasonable and I had a very satisfactory
experience. If my future experiences are anything like my
first, I will happily continue to do business with this
honest mechanic.

they allways fix my car the same day
like a timing belt water pump job on a
2001 Honda Accord.
say hi to Jim and the guys.

I agree with all the comments about Jim and his excellent
service and friendly attitude. I had some significant
suspension work done at the shop and found it to be a
little on the pricey side. However, the payoff-- about two
years later and the suspension and alignment are in good
shape. So, maybe a bit pricier than your Lube'n'More type
joint, but dignified professionals.

I went to Herb and Red's after the recommendations from this
site. I had failed a smog check at another place and felt
they were very shady. I took my '91 Celica to Herb & Red's
and spoke to Jim. He told me I could bring it in whenever
and they would check it out. So as the date of my extensions
expiration neared I brought it in. They checked my car out
and told me I just needed a new part put in. I could buy the
part and they would not charge me for the diagnosic or
labor! Apparently it was an easy job, but still!
The part was installed, I went to the Smog station Jim
recommened and passed with flying colors!
Jim is a genuinely nice guy and they only problem is there
are always SO many cars its hard to get in!
I would recommend them to absolutely everyone!

These guys just saved me $500! My check engine light came on and I had it checked at a place called Advanced Computer Automotives (ACA). They told me the knock sensor needed to be replaced and quoted over $700 for the job. And charged me $95 for the diagnostics!!! In one of my brighter moments I called Herb's & Red's, and Jim told me right away: That code comes up each time you connect the computer on Nissans and Infinities. Were there any other codes? Well yes: The O2 sensor also showed up! He offered to rescan the codes for free and fixed the O2 sensor for $230 ($54 labor). Will I go back there? You bet! And ACA? they are either incompetent or dishonest, and I believe it's the latter!
