They were fantastic. As a female who doesn't know much about cars, they were very patient and willing to explain things a few times. Also, as a starving college student with a 22 yr. old car, they helped me figure out what was really nessecary to fix and what I could wait on.

Not cheap, but have heard that they are an honest and competent shop from other members of the community.

I have been to Honest Engine three times now with my Subaru. The first two times were for the 30K and 60K scheduled maint. Not only did they save me more than 1000$ over the dealer shop (and performed EXACTLY the same work Subaru would have) but they charged me less than they originally quoted me on each occasion I was there. They are fast, do quality work, and are friendly and honest. They have always taken the time to dicuss all the options and don't try to get you to perform additional costly services (when you don't know any better).

I was on the freeway & my Nissan Pathfinder went over an unevenness & started rocking back & forth so bad I thought it would tip over. Every time the road was rough, it did that. I knew I had better get it fixed quick so I looked here. I saw the review for this place & they had good reviews. I am new in town & I decided to try them. First of all, they wanted me to wait a week & then when I said thanks anyway decided that they could see me after all. Then I got there & when I told their intake guy I was the Nissan person who just called, he said in a real snotty tone "Oh yeah, you heard a noise or something". Apparently, a *woman* couldn't be trusted to tell that something was pretty badly wrong with her car, so anything I said must not be too important. Then he said that will be $48.00. I said for a diagnosis? Usually, that is part of the service fee. No, they charge for everything they do up front. Bye-bye Honest Engine- I went to another shop.

In 11/2012, during a trip through the Redwoods, my '95 Eurovan Camper's clutch started slipping. I limped back to Eureka and was directed to Honest Engine by a local Mercedes/BMW mechanic (not many folks like to work on Eurovans). Steve (the manager)recommended that I have the clutch replaced and not try to drive back up to OR/WA... I was glad I followed his advice as the clutch looked quite bad once we had it out. David (the mechanic) did the work and has done lots of Eurovan engine/tranny jobs. Very knowledgeable... The price they charged was reasonable and they didn't take advantage of my situation by gouging me (I had the clutch replacement estimated in Santa Rosa as I felt the clutch was going. Their estimate was less than the S.R. mechanic). I found them to be very honest and fair. I did not see any poor behavior directed at female customers or any customers as a matter of fact. Since the job took two work days and a weekend to complete, I had an opportunity to ask people around town about Honest Engine. Everyone I talked to who had used them said they a good experience. So, to any Eurovan owners traveling through Northern CA who need service, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HONEST ENGINE IN EUREKA CA....
