Steve is able to analyze any car problem more thoroughly than any other mechanic we have found. He gives you honest advice about when the problem needs to be fixed, suggesting holding off if something is not urgent or a safety matter. We have gone regularly for maintenance on three Hondas and extended all their car lives. Steve's Auto Care provides thorough, honest work along the lines of the click and clack brothers. If you live anywhere in the Bay Area (CA, east side of the San Francisco Bay), I would suggest you check them out. They are also a green business.

Steve helped us troubleshoot a problem that another mechanic screwed up and gave us advice on how to get that mechanic to fix the problem.

In the summer of 2010 my Toyota Camry began stalling while in Vancouver, Canada. I called Steve from Vancouver, described the problem, and he advised me to not worry if it didn't do it on the freeway. He was right, problem hasn't recurred. My first encounter with Steve was when I took him my Honda with a noisy front wheel. He diagnosed a failed constant-velocity joint and quoted a repair price. I suggested replacing both sides while he had the car...they had both been the same distance. Steve said, "No, not needed. The other side never fails." I have recommended Steve to several friends. All have been pleased. Finally, he has repaired my old Dodge van. I even saw a Studebaker in the shop a while back.
