These folks are completely extraordinary inasfar as patiently listening & getting as much info as they can about your car BEFORE they work on it; and they'll explain in as minute detail as you prefer AFTER it's fixed. If they can't do it, they'll say so; if they don't want to, they'll explain why; and if they goof, they'll cop to it immediately. We've had free service/parts a couple of times when things didn't go just right (which ain't often!!) They not only treat female customers as if they have brains in their heads, they employ a couple of female mechanics; and they're very professional & respectful with all their customers. Plus, the owner (Mark) has a great old Golden Retriever (Dempsey) that welcomes you & charmingly begs for pets if you look at him twice. An altogether delightful experience at a car repair shop and we are eternally thankful they're our mechanics ... which is the first time in my life I've been able to give so much positive feedback about a garage, over a period of YEARS, and st

You can absolutely count on Berkeley Minicar to fix your Honda competently, on time, and with no unnecessary charges. I have been taking my company cars there for 6 years and always get 5 star service. They go into as much depth as you like about explaining the repairs and usually have the old parts to show. Jeff is the best service manager anywhere and handsome too!

This place is Great, and I speak as one who has had too much experience with disreputable and outright dishonest mechanics. I've moved around a lot over 25 years of adult driving and have had many mechanics, most have been adequate, a few stellar, a couple were crooks. Berkeley Minicar is the first group operation that has qualified in my book as stellar. They are thorough and will even do the occasional minor repair at no charge, like when my 13-yr- old car's trunk lock was malfunctioning, and I took it in specifically for that. They fixed it and refused to bill me. Most of my dealings with them involved a standard oil change, and I took advantage of the breakfast spot across the street; my car was ready by the time I was paying the bill for breakfast. Too bad they do only Hondas. We need more mechanic shops like this one.

Berkeley Minicar is very professional and courteous. They always explain everything they worked on, recommend and do not recommend in detail. When buying a new car, they were a factor in our choosing another Honda. Unfortunately they don't work on other makes.

They do great work and are a phenomona in Berkeley for honda owners. BUT they are EXPENSIVE ($90/hour is very high!). They misdiagnosed my car based on service records rather than simply looking at the components. But they were through in their diagnosis and found problems that other mechanics didn't (or problems that were not "problems" for other mechnics). If you have the dough they can keep you honda on the road no matter how many miles, model or year.

They are a little cheaper than the dealer, but their main selling point is their honesty and quality. The only problem I ever had was their inability to get my windhield washing system cleaned out. Since they were not charging me anything after the first attempt (which did work briefly), I don't have much of a complaint.
